I broke my ankle on the 5th of January, and we didn't go to the grocery store for a month. We were out of bread and some snacks my daughter wanted. Now, I have the ingredients to make bread, but no one was up to making bread. We still haven't picked up anything that we desperately needed. So, if this would have been a grid down situation, we would have made the bread and been fine. So, keep preparing!

It's just 66 year old me here. My sweet grandson picks up my pick-up order from Walmart once a month. My appetite has changed so much lately I don't eat a big variety. I don't even like my cooking anymore lol. I was just thinking I need to can the uneaten meats I have in my freezer. I have canned a lot of meats, soups and stews in the past but I've run out of room for storage in my small apartment. I've been trying to reorganize everything to make more room. It's a slow process for my back. Anyway, I keep on keepin' on. I hope your ankle is better. I've broken my foot a few times but I know a broken ankle is a different story.

What's happening?
My family and I, over the last few years, have gone through the steps of .... moving to a very rural area, gardening, prepping, networking with local friends, etc... We bought raw rural land, cleared it, built a house, put in a very deep water well and septic system, put in a Generac, and so and so on. We are set up for about 3 or 4 months of living at our current standard of living...if we seriously rationed our stuff, we could extend to 5 months or so. We have an abundance of wildlife and fishing that we could harvest if needed...which extends us out to maybe 6 or 8 months. And if we network with our neighbors (who are mostly ranchers and farmers), we could potentially stretch out to a year, without having to get too terribly creative. My wife really focuses on medical, and household items...like solar chargers for phones, batteries, and flashlights, etc... I focus on outside stuff like water, tools, fuel, feed for the animals, etc... I also do things like plant food plots for the deer...we have a large number of deer that live on our property. So I make sure to plant plots for them to eat and keep them around. Its very cheap and easy to do that. We also have lots of small game and easy access to fish. So we do pretty good in that regard. My focus is now shifting to preparing the house for nuclear fallout. Its not necessarily easy, but its easier than I had imagined. We approach it just like all of our previous prepping...just a little bit at a time. We live in an area that would likely be on the outer edge of a blast zone, so we would be dealing with radioactive debris settling on all surfaces. Its entirely survivable...with some preparation. So thats the goal now. I only mention this because it seems a lot of food preppers don't account for this, and assume they wouldnt survive it. But a large percentage of people would survive the immediate event, and can survive for a long time, if prepared for it.

My biggest issue is the "non existent" inflation that the government seems ok with--even promoting it! Stock your needs to the rafters is a good thing!
At 66 with my wonderful back, i know i won't be bugging out with a back pack on my back. Ive decided to make my large piece of luggage with wheels my go bag. Its taking up space anyway so it may as well be filled with things i could use if i had to leave. I can drag it if I have to but hopefully cars will still work and I could just take it. I'm currently buying more survival items I already have to put in the bag like extra clothes and underwear, a portable CB radio and a small solar charger, my sleeping bag and tiny tent, items to cook with and the 48 hour freeze dried kits i have. Its a big bag lol.

Consider purchasing a garden wagon. Roller bags don’t survive in airports, and terrain is much rougher. Pack in the suitcase. Then you can share space with a small child and an adult that can pull the wagon…
I read a book in 2008 called, The Patriot. The message was clear but for some reason I had never considered the possibility. The premise of the book was a financial collapse. I thought the idea was likely or else an EMP. But with this current government, anything is possible especially with the Chinese, North Koreans and Iran being allowed to do whatever they want. I started preparing immediately. It cost me my marriage because my then wife thought I was crazy. "I trust in the United States of America" she would say...what the heck does that mean?? Oh well! My current wife allows me to prep but I really don't think she takes it seriously as I have tried to get her involved but to no avail. At least she doesn't make fun of me! I too have seen the writing on the wall these last few weeks....we're getting close to something major happening. Maybe even to 'delay' the elections until everything calms down. Your channel is amazing and I always learn something. Keep up the good work and God Bless!

Hi Jara! My husband and I had a discussion this morning. He plans to retire in 18 months, cutting our income to 1/4th of what we have now. I've been putting money back as well as stocking our pantry. When he leaves out the first of April for 21 days, I'll spend most of that straightening up the pantry and taking stock of what I need to continue to put into place. Thanks for sharing. A side note: I love my Thrive! Thanks for introducing me to their program. Be safe. Be prepared. Be Blessed
I just subscribed! I enjoyed your video. I have become a little weary of prepping lately, but you are so right. I need to get with it.

Hey Jara! I just went out and restocked on some items I use daily, plus a few extras for my pantry stock. I'm trying to stay on top of it. I've had that gut feeling a while now, that things are going to take a drastic turn. Thanks for the great video!
I'm very happy to see a young family that will be prepared for what may be coming. 👍👍👍💥😎
Would it be possible for you to enter a list of all the food items, spices, etc., that you have in jars at all times that you use to make your meals? It would be great to have a list then we can buy as we find things on sale and we won't have to buy all new things every time you post a recipe.
It’s my opinion that food prep is out of control. If we are experiencing a doomsday scenario, the last thing I will be concerned about is, “Do I have the necessary food stores to make chocolate chip cookies” 🤔… We’re talking survival, not the ability to maintain a gourmet diet. Store and rotate pemmican, hard tack, honey, peanut butter, canned and/or dried meats and vegetables, spirulina, and properly stored dry goods like rice, wheat flour and corn meal and the ability to prepare clean drinking water… many of you will disagree but I’m prepping for survival. If I was a millionaire with a bunker, then I would probably spend a little extra for the fancy dehydrated stuff.
Definitely try the Lume Deodorant. Takes a couple days to detox your pits from the aluminum in regular deodorants. Stick with it. I’ve used Lume for years. They have a new one that also stops sweat. So good! A little goes a long way. Won’t use anything else. ❤
Litehouse has awesome herbs 💚 if I don't grow it, I buy from them. Love this video. You have great ideas and purchase great items.💚💯
I can't thank you enough! I've only started prepping in this past year on a VERY limited budget! We live in Alaska so weather is cold n crappy, not far off from Maine I bet. I have a adult son with autism and major dietary issues ues, 4 cats, a 69 ur old husband with diabetes n high blood pressure, I'm 53, bipolar , have had 4 brain surgeries, and been battling cancer for 9 years now. Honestly, I'm now freaking out and realize I'm so overwhelmed and scared, that against my will I'm shutting down and can't move. Any advice is appreciated but I'm not even certain anything makes sense anymore! It's so overwhelming and our economy is so much worse up hear, everything needs to be shipped and even ordering from Amazon, alot can't be sent, I'm paying ridiculous additional amounts and then waiting weeks n weeks to get what I order! Thank you Heidi! If you have lived all over the lower 48 states then moved to Alaska, as I have, you might understand that the setbacks here, in my opinion, are FAR, FAR less unbearable than living down there. I like not seeing the air I breathe. Not needing alarms, bars and locks on my motorcycles, trucks, or home. Being a woman with a vulnerable autistic son and knowing we are both safe walking outside at night in our cities. We are at higher risk with animals than people. But it can't be understood unless you've experienced living in the most scenic space in our great country. I needed to be reminded of that, so thank you for the suggestion to move. Your comment also helped me. To quit fretting, settle down, focus on the light at the end of the tunnel with the determination and tenacity we Alaskans do, but most importantly, to be grateful and trust that there is a plan out of my hands and it will be okay, THANK YOU LADIES!!!

Bless your heart, I just had to say hi. You have a lot on your shoulders. I, too, get anxious over things, and the most helpful thing I've done was to take a break from prepper videos, particularly those who preach doom-and-gloom. It helps tremendously to get away from the bombardment. Also, summer's coming up. Maybe you could get help putting in a garden. Even just a few container plants, like herbs or potatoes can help boost your spirits. Are you able to do any canning or dehydrating? Maybe you could get with a group or another like-minded individual, buy in bulk and buy on sale, and share the work, maybe even share equipment. Just a few ideas for you. Hope there's something here that you can use.
Yes something big is coming and it's going to make or break us. 1st and foremost, keep your eyes towards Jesus, our saviour! Make sure you are right with your maker and repent and pray without cessation for our country. And prep as if your life depends on it because it could!

The cliche, of course, is "It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it." I have my own addition to the other adage, "Two is one, and one is none." I say, "Yes, but SIX is still five." I retired from a job that I loved back in October. I still think of the folks I worked with, and miss most of them sometimes. But I worked long and hard, and when the day came, I had a plan. We moved away from the big city, and got ourselves a smaller house after living in a condo for over twenty years. Now we have a yard. And a generator. And a shed. And our spare bedroom is the storage room and my den. We're getting more things on the shelves, with more shelves to put them on. We're friendly with our neighbors. We're doing more with our preps, to keep our skills fresh. I most sincerely hope that nothing happens. But "Hope is not a plan." All the best to you all, may we never need our preps.

Good video. I had a couple thoughts. On the nuts, I bought raw peanuts in 2019 have them stored in a gallon mason jar with oxygen absorbers, and they're as fresh today as the day I got them, so you might try that for more long-term storage. I do the same thing with pecans. Also, brazil nuts make fantastic pesto--just saying. Vital wheat gluten can be used to make "faux" sausage, might want to look into that if you're interested. I'd want to experiment with the food jar, I believe it's insulated? If so, you might be able to start soups/stews, bring to a boil, pour in the jar and wrap in a blanket for a few hours to continue cooking the meal. Finally, I'll be watching for your opinion of the Lume product. TFS.
Always look forward to seeing your videos. Many great ideas. ❄️ ❄️❄️❄️❄️ in Michigan

I planted 4 Dwarf Mulberry and several Brown Turkey & Celeste fig trees yesterday in Louisiana. I have 5 more fig trees and two Pineapple Guava shrubs to plant. The Dwarf Everbearing Mulberry grows fast and so do figs (here) and both can be kept in large pots and are easily multiplied into more and more trees with cuttings. They`re easy to root. I transplanted 2 bunches of green onions from the store and planted a bag of small red potatoes. Next year I`ll use a lot of these as seed potatoes. The green onions will eventually bloom and give me a ton of free onion seeds. I also planted spring onion and leek seeds, stevia, and stinging nettle and I`m starting an asparagus bed from seeds. I just planted carrots and bush green beans and I have radish almost ready to harvest and more I just started mixed with beets and spinach. I`m growing Southern Cow Pea varieties like asparagus pole beans, purple hull, crowder, and black eyed peas in the heat of summer and cucumbers and squash. The birds are getting a sunflower patch and the bees are getting bee flowers and the hummingbirds are getting scarlett runner pole beans.

Glad you’re working on keto recipes. So many people with diabetes
Nice prepper pantry haul. It is much more sensible than some youtuber hosts show. 🙂

The Survival System Medicinal Herbs packet is great, I’m in Kentucky and I already have started some of these herbs. I am just now dipping my toes into medicinal herbs.

You need family or friends to help you. Are you a member of a church? They would probably help you.
Maine here also. The produce in stores right now is horrible❤
I try to buy a little here a here, a little there. I did buy a case of adult wash clothes. I’ve been watching for prepping deals. There is just so many things. 🥶 😎 🌞 🌬️
⛅⛅ I enjoy your channel and I especially appreciate the recipes for using freeze dried foods, hopefully more people will wake-up to what's going on and get prepared. we've lived in a rural mountain community for many years but our wonderful community is being taken over and is changing rapidly. People fleeing cities to rural areas bring their faulty way of thinking with them, instead of fitting in they try to turn our community into what they're running from and they're bringing crime with them. I would like to be more welcoming to them but they think their problems were about location instead of behavior. Unfortunately many people suddenly showing up in rural areas are not like minded people. I recommend your channel whenever I have the opportunity, hopefully it will make them think. Thank you.

Just found your channel, I'm wondering what do i do if i live in Subsidized housing and if the grid goes down we have no power. I have been prepping for can goods and rice and spaghetti, oatmeal, but what do i do to be able to cook, get a small one burner camping stove. Also was wondering what i could do about water filtration. Do they have tablets? windy and cold here in N.H.🌬️🌨️

I have a one burner butane stove that is great for cooking indoors without power. You can get one at walmart for $20-$30. They come in a storage case with a handle. Pick up a few cans of butane fuel for it as well, if all you are doing is heating canned foods a can will last you quite a while. For water, there are water purification tablets you can get. You could also check out the Sawyer line of water filters, they are small and inexpensive but filter a lot of water well. You should be able to find all these items at a Walmart.

@@wickedprepared Thank you so much I knew about the butane stoves, but I will check out the filtration. I have a six cup filtration from Brita but I would like something bigger. I'm also diabetic so I am going to watch your videos to see if you have gone over ways for food that diabetics can eat. I have been prepping the wash cloths and bandages and some other stuff but my main worry was the water and some dried food which I saw in your video. Thank you again.
❄Thanks for all the great tips that you shre.

⛅️ I recently got some camping/backpacking items on clearance. Last year too about this time. I was wondering how good the Coast lights are. Recently picked some up on sale (not as good a deal as yours!) at Menards (Home-improvement-plus-a-little-of-everything store)..... Do you take all your dogs with you camping?!
