Great product and quality. Cool how you can add modules like ram slots. 👍🤓

Yes, exactly
I thought they used a fairly decent MCU, not ATMega328. Also did you see the switching mixer ICs or a frequency generator IC? Such as are used in QCX and QDX?

I didn't have a chance to look that deeply.
Nicely done TO, That is certainly an interesting device, I can see where it could definitely be a useful aide on someone's CW journey. 😎👍

I would totally absorb CW after using this for a while.
A bit pricey for a SWLurker such as myself, but I'll keep an eye on it. BTW, nice Commodore gear that you've got there. :)

@@temporarilyoffline I'll have to dig it up, but I have an add-on designed for Amigas that will decode SSTV (IIRC, I've slept since I got it).
What type of ham license do you need to get onto 20, 40 and 80 M freq and do code only. Does this have the capability to where you can prepare a document in MS word, do a copy and paste and then hit send? Will an 80 meter dipole works for the triband unit.
@temporarilyoffline

Looks like 80,40,15 for a tech license and the all bands for general. For the second question I'm going to guess "no" but you could check with thr maker.
Thanks. How hard would it be to swap the SMA for a BNC connector.

I don't recall seeing a foot print on the board, but this is the perfect simple solution: amzn.to/3FlMDoW
Steve, Do you think this board can accept bluetooth via the usb port? At the end of the video, it was mentioned that bluetooth keyboard would be A future upgrade. I just made a purchase today, just wondering if I should wait. 73's. K8JAZ

Think there is a market for an aluminum case to replace the 3D printed one?

I think they are extra cost options. You'd have to check with PreppComm to be sure.

You say "Extra things that come in the box" but those all appear to be extra options EXCEPT the keyboard. Am I hearing that wrong?

You are correct. Those are extra parts that Eric sent along for the live stream.
Cool product. $400 !! Yikes. I think for me a product that interfaces to speaker and mic IOs at a lower price point would be better. Upon checking, I see Prepcomm also sells a "MMX-ZERO" model which is what I just described, but it's still pretty dear at $345. Definitely more appropriate for those of us who've already invested in a decent transceiver. Nice that they have both options covered. Edit: Of course you mentioned that no-transceiver option near the end of your video. Neat stuff for sure.

I’d love to sell you my extra but I’m letting others borrow it to test the MMX. Any idea what you’d pay for a used unit? It is best as a transceiver but external mode to your own is a headache at first but nice in the end.

This is the MMX not the DMX-40 :-) the DMX-40 is a 40M only unit - I have both and they are great

Willie, Did you use a keyer of some kind to transition from paddle key to Mmx. I have my bencher inputing to the Mmx and it’s decoding my keying but not transmit output. What’s the secret to your setup. Cheers.

@@CliveDrone yep, i used a keyer... had one i built 20 years ago, about the size of a palm paddle (small)... such a shame that there was no room in hardware or firmware for a keyer chip

@@willieb6529 That’s really true Willie. Ya build a qrp rig in 2022 and it won’t accept a iambic key. And at $400. Anyway What do I have to do to transmit now that I have the key working. It transmitt on auto CW but not sending with the key.

what transistor(s) used for transmit?

I didn't see them when I looked. They are not the typical BS170s. I thought about that right after I stopped filming.
I have one with 20M transceiver. I have yet to get it to decode a regular transmission. Only success was with W1AW practice transmissions. Total waste for me.
