This may be my favorite checklist so far for Preptober. ❤ Music and aesthetic boards are my go-tos, as well. In fact, I've found that printing an aesthetic board for my WIP and for the man characters, too, and posting those in my writing space are immensely helpful! Having just the beginning, middle and end figured out, too - so great! I'm too much of an overwriter to trust myself to pants much 😂 especially in a challenge that is entirely word count based; way too easy to just write fluff. 🤦 So I do a scene-by-scene outline of just enough scenes to get me to the 50k mark (calculating an average of 1500 words per scene). And then my goal becomes "write one SCENE per day", which helps hold me accountable to NOT just write fluff but actually move the story forward.😊 Excited to hear about your new project and looking forward to updates throughout November. ❤

Thanks for sharing your process! I think a playlist for the project is such a great idea. I might try that next month since I’ll be working on two projects. I think it will help me be in the right mindset for each one. 🙂

Thank you so much for creating this video. It gave off such relaxed and cozy vibes that I think belong in the writing either as hobby or job / just the activity. The check list was well done and reminded me of things I forgot about. I myself know that I will be most likely aiming for about 35k as this is a hobby for me and not my job so I have to deal with uni at side and other responsibilities but I take 35k as a challenge for me. also i really appreciate how all the colors in your frame just giev off fall vibes. I love your checklist. I’m such a pantser, though, and I don’t use visuals in that way at all. But since I adapt my own work, like for my dissertation novel, I could visualize the characters because I had cast some actors for the script version (for a Zoom reading). But for this Nano project, it’s more of a loose adaptation from one of my other pilots (script is more Adult, novel is YA)-but same concept, so I don’t have the same visuals. Have you read SAVE THE CAT WRITES A YA NOVEL? I actually like it way more than SAVE THE CAT WRITES A NOVEL. It’s more informative, I think.

I totally get that! Why don't you set up a project on the NaNo site anyways? You can just make a project separate to the event so you can make the word goal something like 10k or whatever you think you could do. Then you can still participate in the energy of the challenge without the pressure 💛

@@KaylaKempers I was actually thinking about making a time goal rather than a word goal, like spend half an hour on writing everyday... But even that might be too much of a commitment for me right now, my family and house are keeping me quite busy! We'll see.

@@StrangeLittleLadygo for 10 minutes a day! If you feel that day you can commit more than you can but 10 minutes feels so much more doable. Writing in between tasks, right before bed, after waking up, it doesn’t even have to be consecutive!

Gonna be doing my first NaNo this year - don't know what I am getting my self in for. Will you be sharing updates as you go?
