Two months later March 2020) and we are in the mist of a Coronavrus (COVID19) Pandemic. Seems we don't learn our lessons very well. Thank you all for providing this important information.

The first case came out the same month that this was published. I have seen several now in the same time frame. What did they know? Hmmm

@@freakee2818 people who do this kind of work professionally have conferences like this all the time. Conspiratorial insinuations are never helpful in a time like this.

@@ronyan1 I'm not trying to be a conspiracy theorist. Just trying to understand how and why this is being handled so poorly. They have had years to prepare for this. The "World" health organization and yet every country affected has reacted differently. One country has a surplus of tests while another can't get any. Say what you want but I think it's BS.

@NBaimf What exactly is "really" going on?
Sharing this with my friends, probably none will sit through this entire lecture but wow. If only my science degree felt this impactful.
The 75th Health Futures Summit was held Dec 5, 2019, only one month before China let the world know that the cluster of pneumonia cases were being caused by a strain of the Coronovirus. Michael Osterholm has been warning about this very possibility for many years. Unfortunately his call to prepare in advance rather than react was ignored by multiple administrations. His book “Deadliest Enemy” is available from Amazon.
It's eerie to watch this and know that COVID had already spilled over and was spreading as this conference was going on, yet nobody knew.

This is the first time that this popped up in my recommendations. Its January 2, 2021 and this has only had 16,583 views and 36 comments. Yeah - so far its fairly technical, but F--K this should have been one of the great videos of the last 12 months. The part about how China makes 94% of the APIs and that they have the world hostage for those drugs is just staggering. The part on water hit me, because I am an engineer who has worked in waster water treatment.

yes, youtube knows im searching this guy out. read his book a couple years ago. been into evolutionary biology for many years and virology since the last big ebola outbreak
This man is a saint.
When comparing infectious diseases, like eBola or COVID, without a living host what are the average "life" or "contagion" expectancies of a bug? We hear lots of numbers from days to weeks, but what is the expected time until an infection is not longer viable?
Informative.
Yay humans! Look how smart we are....

20 000 views still?. This man is proof luck plays a role in someone's audience growing not just their hard-work/mastery. He should be the most well known epidemiologist right now. Predicting pandemics is no small feat. Is it because he has no charisma?. This means his future research and books will go under the radar again.
Oh of course, because this one isn’t going to plan too well...
But we are in hands of politicians! So ashemed!, diYing in USA pure capitalism!,

While very good video and full of very useful information, plants are far and away more efficient source of complete protein than chicken, but I know he's probably referring to the standard consumed food products for protein, which are meat.
