preparatory year in romania - language learning, ASE, international student

a l e t t e r
I finally finished my romanian language preparatory year at Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) in July. The first semester I got here was done 100% online, hence it just passed swiftly, and I have no recollection of it. Thankfully we were able to come to campus for the second/spring semester, and it is the most beautiful weather to go to uni! I love it there more than I expected so it was a bit hard to bid a farewell. But nevertheless, I enjoyed my time there and I made this video as a way to reminisce it later (:

Will you study in the romanian language or english the following years? How is the preparatory year designed?

I am currently doing my degree in Romanian langugae (I am the only foreigner in my batch)! My prepyear was 2 semesters. The first semester we learnt all the basic (grammar, vocabs, comprehension, etc) until we reach A1/A2, and the second semester you will learn more, but also have specialization classes according to your future major (science- biology, chem, physics, or social sc- economy, IR, business, etc...). Each university has different kind of Romanian Language Preparatory Year program (APLR), so make sure to check the uni website for more details! After you finished your prepyear (2 semesters/ 1 year), you can apply to your desire university degree , depending on the courses language requirements, it will be either B1 or B2. If you want to learn in English instead, you only need an English language certificate.

Hello! Upon researching about the Romanian government scholarship, I stumbled upon your video. I already created my account and I just have some few questions. I was just wondering if you could answer them. 1. What does transcript attesting my academic record of the final year of studies, until the moment of submitting the application file indicates? By the way I’m currently a grade 12 student who is expected to graduate in June. So it means that my first semester grades were the only ones available as of now. 2. Where can I translate my grades into Romanian form? Our grading system is 100 percentile. Hoping for your response, thank u so much!

Hii! Thank you so much for the lovely comment 🥺 No, the prepyear is only for those who need the romanian language certificate to study their degree in romanian (: if you’re doing it in english, there’s no need for that!
