I was on tour in SA from England and the standard is absolutely insane compared to UK, they're so passionate about their rugby

One of the best rugby games I have ever watched. But I have a referee question: At 126:28 when the BH player was tackled he played the ball back to another BH player who was also on the ground. Shouldn't that have been a penalty for playing the ball when on the ground?

I think because this derby is over a hundred years old and a lot of people have a strong connection to it. A large part of the town shuts down when the derby takes place. Plus its cheaper than a SR match

Man this makes me miss Zim highschool games

reminds me of the wasps vs exeter quarter final in 2017, but with a different ending

i assume these lads are U18 ? never seen a crowd like this at a school game, anywhere. i've seen a few of the other SA school games and even they have a very good turnout, not just mum and dad and a few friends. and the standard is awesome, just wonder why this doesn't carry forward to the senior game these days. Not so long ago SA were a major force and the Euro teams used to quake at the thought of the SA forwards rumbling down on them, now they are weak in comparison. would be good to see the Boks back to those former glory days

Because in schoolboy rugby in SA there is continuity; our Pro teams can barely keep a team together for 2 years. Some of these kids play together from u14 to u19. In SA its becoming rare to have top class senior SR players. The thing is we are fixing it, but only out of National perspective...the reason there is so big focus in youth rugby here is so that we can streamline them and hopefully have a experience group of mid 20s Springboks. Many of the current Springboks stars like Etzebeth, Pollard, Kriel, Nkosi, Marx, Gelant, Kolbe, Kwagga, RG Snyman, Kitshoff and Pieter steph du Toit have all come throw SA schools system and are a example of what SARU is trying to do. Notice their experienced yet still young enough to play another rwc.

@@raubi1549 Thanks for the explanation, since i originally posted i've caught up with a fair n° of games and still surprised at the skill levels of these youngsters. will watch the springbok teams of the future with interest to see if any of the current crop find their way to the RWC.

after this comment was posted the Springboks won both the 2019 and 2023 world cup and now have a record 4 world cups in total. I think its clear that Bokke now dominant, especially with our forwards and especially our bomb squad being THE BEST in the world.

Yes but it doesn't make them bad. These are top rugby schools, but to be honest Grey is in it's own league

Some of these guys are in their 30s. They got held back a few times because they couldn't do their arithmetic.
