In this series am going to share with you the premarital counseling sessions starting with the first premarital counseling session which is: family background and family history step by step, without skipping any step from the first topic to the last topic.
Basically, I will give you everything you need to know about premarital counseling sessions.
Let's dive into our first premarital counseling session - which is family and personal background.
♦️ 👉
Hi everyone my name is Shaddy and this is honey let's Talk where we say when we talk we make it better.

So today we are going to talk about "family and personal background" which is the first premarital counseling session.
I have divided this session into two parts.
Part one is why this session is important and part two questions you should discuss as a couple.
Let's start with part one
Why is discussing your background important that I have to be in a premarital counseling session?
By the time your planning to get married, you probably have lived 20plus year on your own or with a family depending on when you intend to get married.
It's like a tree, your roots are already on the ground.
A lot of people underestimate the power of your personal background, we take it lightly and this is a potential threat to your relationship.
Your past has shaped your worldview, the way you make decisions, the way you communicate, the way you deal with people, and that's why this session is a super conversation to have with your partner.
To be honest This particular premarital counseling session helped me to understand my wife and myself better.
Let me just be honest with you, my wife and I come from two different backgrounds, I was raised by a single parent, my wife comes from a close neat family.
Let's go to part two.
Premarital counseling questions that will help you process your background and personal history.
1. How was your childhood
2. How did your parents display love in the marriage?
3. Who paid the bills and what do you think about that?
4. Do you wish you stayed longer at your parent's house? Yes/no why?
5. Describe your family
6. Who made decisions in the family
7. Describe your journey include the most significant memories
8. Is your family religious
9. Describe your relationship with your family members
10. What do you wish your parents did that would have made a huge difference

These questions are mostly super vague and seem like they would take years to talk about thoroughly… also it would be really weird if they haven’t already been at least briefly discussed while dating

Yes Ruth, it's really important that couples talk through or discuss the topics way in advance, we usually suggest to couples to do premarital Counseling with another couple so that they can continue having this conversation...

Wasn’t to my point about how vague the questions are but okay. Of course counseling can be useful if they have a trusted, experienced, and psychological knowledgeable friend
