PREHISTORIC PLANET. Dinosaur size comparison chart

Ғылым және технология

Size comparison chart of the dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals that appeared in the Prehistoric Planet series by the BBC, focussed on the Maastrichtian, late Cretaceous. Without a human figure in the show, sometimes one could lose the sense of scale of these animals, so hopefully this could help to give some perspective. Many of these animals have been featured in previous videos, so I gave more emphasis to the new ones.

Honestly, it’s refreshing to get a piece of dinosaur media that not only portrays dinosaurs with our current scientific knowledge, but as real animals, not movie monsters. Prehistoric planet made scientifically accurate dinosaurs awesome and hopefully we see more of that in fictional media as well.

Prehistoric Planet was so good! Definitely needs a season 2 of some sort and I don't even care if it's gonna be different time period with dinosaurs or something from the Cenozoic or Paleozoic. I just want more documentaries with this level of effort put into portraying prehistoric animals with modern depictions and grounded animal behavior. It was like 9.9/10 documentary for me personally and while I was prepared for great dinosaur representation it caught me by surprise how well executed the pterosaurs were and they stole the show for me several times. It's very important to support such projects and now Mario comes up with an amazing video and art in honor of the series which is further proof of how much the paleo community appetites it.

@@MarioLanzas. Oh, that's a though decision to make as it's essentially the same as asking which is my favourite period and I don't know the answer to that lol. If we are talking more dinosaurs then either Early Cretaceous (many creatures that are close to my heart are from this time) or Late Jurassic. On the other hand seeing the origins of dinosaurs among the various other representatives of the Triassic weirdness would be incredible as the Triassic is one of the most underrated periods in terms of proper representation in documentaries. Honestly whichever period they pick for a season 2 would be great.

This is absolutely good! Maybe one day you can do some size comparisons charts base on BBCs Walking with... Series (All except the trashy 3d movie because that's a embarrassing joke), one for Dinosaurs (including the Allosaurus special and The Chased by Dinosaurs), one for Beasts, One for Monsters, One for the sea monsters special (but then again most of the sea creatures from that show are already covered in the Paleo-Ocean trilogy), and I am not saying you should cover every single dinosaur/extinct animal that has ever been featured in the whole series (That would be a lot of work!) but at least emphasis ones you have not covered in your earlier videos (such as Embolotherium, Hyaenodon, and Macrauchenia) and ones that are like the main iconic focused of each episode (such as Diplodocus, Leaellynasaura, and Paraceratherium) Keep up the good work! 😉😉

After watching this video, you've given me inspiration to make my own Prehistoric Planet creatures size comparison. I just wanted to ask that can I base my size comparison on yours? OFC I'll leave your credits in the description, as well as a link to this masterpiece.

El capítulo donde aparece el rapetosaurus es el de agua dulce y según el narrador no son tuarangisaurus si no más bien elasmosaurus, que es una especie que también faltó en el video.
