Right? He says he can be a "just a man and not an emperor" with his concubine..he could've been like that with Yan Yan but who forced Yan Yan into that position? Oh, right..he did. 🙄

This is why the Queen is such a strong lady. Gave up her true love, managing the kingdom, forced marriage with someone who loved another. In short, her selfless love towards her country far exceeds beyond expectation which is admirable. Fate has choosen the right person to be the Queen indeed. The sense of responsibility for her country is too much for any woman to comprehend.

She was so used by him and tried her hardest to accept what she couldn't change, but he was so selfish in the end. Thank goodness she at least gets a happy ending eventually, many years too late.

@@camiliataieb5061 I believe after the Emperor passes away, she raises their son and acts as regent until he gets old enough to take over the throne under his own power. At that point she is finally freed from her responsibilities, allowed to leave the palace, and remarry to her childhood sweetheart. It took a LONG time for her to get her happy ending.

When I watched this the first time I was so pissed when he double crossed her after taking her away from her first loved in the end he was still a selfish bastard to the very end only gave her back to De Han when he died

@@edefinstad2939 so true. He may have had his reasons, but he completely upended her life and caused the chaos and disruptions to her family too all for his own needs.

A lesson for those who claim what does not belong to them, he forced her to marry him, taking her away from who she belong to,this is the price, I wished he let her go all through these years, you cannot force love.

I really despised the king. If I was the friend idk if I could have forgiven him. It was annoying to me that he married her and essentially passed the stress of the kingdom onto her, when that wasn't what she wanted. All she wanted was to marry the man she loved. I was so happy for their happy ending. Her sisters were also a bit frustrating, especially the one right above her.

I think different. He knew he had to become emperor to save the people from the crazy killing emperor that was on the throne. He also knew he would not live a long life. He had to choose a woman that he knew was strong enough, smart enough and dedicated to stand beside him because she would have to take over. Yes, he did love her but I don't think for a minute he would have come between her and Han if he hadn't needed to. Things were happening fast and he needed her beside him. Both she and Han loved him to the end and forgave him once they understood his reasons.

Men kill me he thinks he's in love with her but as soon as he is on his death bed he will be looking for the queen to comfort him.

What a man took her from her true love and living with his concubine whom he loves he denied the queen her life as she planned and wanted with her beloved.

This is the most bastard ungrateful King(main lead) I've seen in serial he snached her from her true love because she is strong + inteligent so she can work and he can laze around , after all of that he fell in love and found his one true love with a docile girly girl 🤬🤬🤬🤬 I didn't watch this because of his character.

To be honest, what she wanted was to be like that past Empress Dowager. In the end, she got her wish and (he was sickly) he got to choose someone to entrust the country too. I don't think either of them was ever in love with the other. .The Emperor was definitely selfish but, when she got a taste for power, she did try to seek his favor. I think they both got what they wanted from each other. Afterall, she went around saying that she wanted to be like that past Empress Dpwager so it's obvious that she was ambitious and Han Derang could not give her what she wanted.

​@@Breenndda honestly I kinda of agree with both your opinion but also with the opinion of the other person that commented above. Yes she did love Derang and would most likely have been happy with him in case they would have married. Probably with Dereng she would have lived a simple life like a wife and mother of his children. But it's also very true that later the female lead become an ambitious woman that liked power. And once she got a taste of that power she didn't let go at all. Yes she had to rule in place of her husband because he was a incompetent ruler, was sickly and mostly a selfish immature man. However I still disliked very deeply how the female lead became so obsessed by the power and how badly she handled the situation with her older sister. She basically took by force the power that belonged to her sister despite the fact that the sister tried her best to be loyal. And also the cynical criticism the female lead and her son had towards the older sister for falling in love with the younger sclave was really off-putting. Ultimately I don't think the sclave was so wrong when he said aloud that the protagoniste wanted the power of her older sister and to exile her. After all that's what exactly happened in the end.

Always read comment before watching any Chinese drama. I hate sad ending and breakfast being served.

If you were born a woman,then you almost certainly had no choice .Your marriage was decided by your parents. As long as you were born in a wealthy or noble family, you were done for. You would have to pray to be born poor and even then, your parents could still sell you as a concubine to the highest bidder.

He married her because he needed the support from her family plus she was capable of ruling a country like many other kings

I really didn’t like the storyline it was very frustrating i stopped watching it since the “king” took her from the man she loved. To me it didn’t make sense at the end that they ending up together because she already had children with the “king”.

I don't think she was complaining.. she was more sad and resigned. If you watched the series from the begining you would see how unfair everything was for her. She was actually willing to give their marriage a shot. He promised her alot when he serperated her from her love now it's almost like all the king's promises are a slap in her face. She gets the burden of ruling a kingdom by herself, a loveless marriage all so he can laze around with his new found love. Our queen has alot of reasons to be bitter being married to such an ungrateful person. This drama didn't show the king's weak character in the best light.

@@Trustyzaney I kind of figured that watching clips from the series and full episodes. She never loved him and forced the feelings of love for him when it was to late. (I guess with time and being a unwilling participant you start to see the person in a different light.) These contractual marriages is a trope. I know the story and the read the book.😂 Throughout their entire marriage they were both miserable in some way or another.

It's common for some dramas to have two casts -- the ones you see in the film, and the cast whose voices are used to dub over the face cast's voices. Dubbing over using voice acting ensures that any dialogue will be in the default "common" or shared "national dialect," so to speak, and the consistency prevents confusion. Hope that helps.

They literally always give the characters atypical typecasting voices and in my opinion, that kind of ruins the actor's natural portrayal of the character on-screen. Would it be so hard for them to just let the actor train to do a different speaking accent to fit the character instead of slapping on a dubbed voice?
