    I had preeclampsia with severe features beginning at 28 weeks, I went to the ER with trouble breathing and back pain, my blood pressure was 195/110. I truly feel like my concerns with my OB were entirely dismissed. I had two higher readings at recent visits, and complained of the back pain, trouble breathing, and nausea and she just stated “well that’s just what being pregnant is” and this is why the US has such a high maternal mortality rate.

    I had the same. This was my first pregnancy and they diagnosed me too late. I had to have an emergency c section At 28weeks on the 18th of January 2022 at 4.00am my boy came out he was here for 3 days. But only 750 grams. Because my placenta had detached he wasn't eating as much as he should... I'm doing all my research now to prepare myself for next time.

    Another great one, thank you! I got Bell's palsy at 39 weeks and apparently it's associated with hypertension of pregnancy.. thankfully my blood pressure remained low normal. I'm relieved to hear that since I was normotensive, I am at lower risk during a subsequent pregnancy. Definitely do not want Bell's palsy to happen again.. I never recovered completely from it. Also.. you are glowing and look fantastic! Can't believe you're still working tonnes, pregnant, doing KZread etc.. I was limping to the finish line by this point in my pregnancy haha.

    I had postpartum pre-eclampsia with my first child, but chalked up my symptoms to a rough C-section recovery. By the time I realized my headache wasn’t normal (nor was it going away with any pain meds) and went to the hospital, I was very very sick. I had so much fluid around my lungs that my oxygen saturation was at 85 when I checked into the ED. My OB nurses told me I set a record when they removed 9 liters of fluid with a lasix drip in just a few hours. After I had my second child, I knew it was happening and was able to go back to the hospital before it got out of hand. I had completely normal, healthy pregnancies, but for some reason, about five days after delivery with both of my girls, it crept up. Thank you for making these videos. They are so so helpful and I only wish you were around about four years ago when I went through my first pregnancy!

    Thank you for this - it's like you're reading my mind. For someone who has typically healthy BP (100/60) at 36 weeks, is in overall strong health with regular fitness and healthy nutritional habits, but is over 35 and has a higher BMI, does the benefit outweigh risk of taking daily baby aspirin to prevent pre-e? I hear docs saying that baby aspirin is safe and low-risk, but I prefer avoiding drugs if I can.

    Ok soo I am soo confused I was ordered a 24hr urine screen to I guess check my protein levels in my urine. (I am pregnant with triplets and as writing this 27wks pregnant) I have ADHD and anxiety. The ONLY times my bp has been slightly slightly elevated was due to lack of sleep and high anxiety and coffee the morning of. I have never had a high bp unless I was under severe stress (which yes I have been trying to limit but with life stressors..) I am not on any bp meds or anxiety meds. I have NO signs of anything related to preeclampsia, but I understand with triplets it can happen at any moment. Plus no gestational diabeties, I am preaty healthy and "normal" for being pregnant with triplets. Which seems to almost shock my docs. I don't drink coffee or caffiene reg just when I REALLY need the pick me up. (seems to calm me down when I havent slept at all) But my prob is the urine screen. I will take it but I don't have a way to get it to the labs between my apts, and if I wait until my next apt then I worry it would be sitting to long in a fridge and would be almost expired. (my next apt is the 9th of nov but I don't have a working car so i have to wait for someone to take me to the doc and I don't want it sitting for too long) I love this video though it just confirms once again that ALL the signs and symptoms of preeclampsia I DONT have.

No UTI, but blood and protein was in my urine. 2 feet started swelling but heard that was normal 3 could not stand for about a week. Kept taking baths, no showers. Could not stand for more than 30 seconds without stomach pain. I thought it was gas. Kept taking acetaminophen and laying down 4 major headaches 5 finally went to the ER and had to have an emergency c section at 26 weeks baby was 1 lb 3 oz

    Hello doctor! May I ask you one question please? So ,I am based in London. I had a beautiful and healthy pregnancy time last year,2022. Looking back now , I can see there were some signs.. Starting with 28w scan , the midwife and doctor was asking me if "did they prescribed the aspirin" . I would say, "no. Nobody did". I was feeling great. No symptoms at all. At 36w scan , the doc said my baby boy wasn't gaining all that weight that should have at the time , he was 2.800 kg. So ,they sent me to maternity unit to be checked. Blood test results came with symptoms of preeclampsia, protein in the urine , hight blood pressure. I received a pill to lower the bp. Was monitored for 2 days .knowing I had preeclampsia at 36weeks , I was sent home. With a next appointment for next day. During night I had a placenta abruption. Got rushed into hospital, had an Emergency cesarean section, was too late 😑 This is happening in NHS LONDON ,2022!!! A PREGNANT WOMAN AT 36+3DAYS IS SENT HOME WOTH PREECLAMPSIA!. Would you please tell me , if this is a normal procedure for a situation like this ? I would be very much appreciated if you could give an opinion as a doctor , regarding the tragedy I ve been through and the broken nation health system , as I dealt with. Not to mention that I felt so much rascim and poor tratament, poor communication, from an indian doctor and midwifes. On the appointment day to be checked they put me to wait for 6h on a chair waiting to be checked for blood pressure.

  • @dr.martaperez

    @dr.martaperez

    2 жыл бұрын

    This is such a fantastic question, this is a topic of a lot of research right now because it’s clear that there is an association between PreE and future cardiovascular disease. My recommendations would be to make sure you have a primary care doctor and receive preventative care annually, which may include things like blood pressure checks, screening for cholesterol/lipids, and diabetes. Things you can do are keep active, exercise is the best single thing one can do to keep the heart healthy, even walking is great. Eating healthfully with lots of vegetables and fiber. Not smoking and limiting alcohol intake to moderate use. Another big one is protecting quality sleep and stress reduction (easier said than done). These are all lifestyle factors that can help decrease risk in addition to medical therapy that might be needed now or later for blood pressure or cholesterol.

    I don't feel empowered when you won't call us women! We are women. Yes, I know you want us to disappear, but we are never leaving. We are WOMEN! That is the word you are looking for, not "people."

    How do we know if the postpartum preeclampsia will stay or go away

    I had postpartum eclampsia in 2015 & just postpartum preeclampsia again in 2018, and it went away. I’m starting a series in 2022, on how I navigated that season of my life

    I see assisted reproductive treatment as a risk factor for a number of conditions, is this anyone who has used this means to get pregnant or individuals with fertility issues. I'm a single mother by choice but I know other individuals who are in same sex relationships who have used IUI, ICI, and IVF to achieve their goals, does this mean we are at a higher risk because we didn't conceive through intercourse, and if so why.

    Great question! It’s probably less an underlying risk factor or lack of intercourse and more a confounded of increased age (which raises the risk of needing ART and also raises risk of these complications) and there is some data a result of the technology and altered cycle. For example, there is some data that preeclampsia is higher with fresh versus frozen because the corpus luteum versus using medications for progesterone support, something about cellular messaging. This science is new and not my particular specialty exactly so some of my details are a little fuzzy but that kind of thing, not intercourse itself.

    What do I do if your at the end and your Dr. isn’t taking you seriously? Currently 38wks and sitting around 122/94. Normal (up to a few weeks ago) was around 114/74. I saw him today and he says to just be watch it and they gave me an appointment of 6/9 when I’m due 6/6. That’s 2 1/2 weeks! He has yet to check me, doesn’t do UAs. Is there a number I should possibly go to the Er if I hit for bp? This is my first pregnancy and I’m concerned.

    @@randomthings4813 Went full term and was induced due to high numbers at my 40 wk check up. Ended up with a placental abruption and needing 2 bags of blood and one hell of a time with recovery, but little one is here and healthy. I think she’s going to be an only child though. 😂
