Study Guide: (To be created, but Joe's working on it!)
In this video, we continue to work with the Diels Alder reaction. Now that we've tackled EWGs/EDGs (joechem.io/videos/23), we look at how we can quickly and accurately predict the products of Diels Alder reactions in Complete the Reaction type problems. To do this, we'll use a little ochem life hack called the "In and Out" Rule, and if you're wondering how it works, then check out joechem.io/videos/25 :)

No, Danny. You're a king.
So then, there is no stereochemistry for R-groups not near (in/out) the ring pocket?
@jOeCHEM
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ana! That’s correct! In a Diels Alder product, you’ll see that the other two carbons actually a part of a double bond. Atoms in a double bond are sp2 hybridized & have a trigonal planar geometry aka no stereochemistry! Does that make sense?
