The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

Its made by the same company that make the Predators. Both feature LIfan engines. You should look at getting an inverter with battery bank. Nothing is quieter or more efficient than a generator that is not running.

There are videos showing that. The 420 / 459cc generators can typically sustain between 1700 to 2500 watts on syngas. Gasification systems are never linear as its all about fuel flows and how well the unit can flow when left un attended. You can achieve far greater output when using applications that are more of an intermitant load. Like Ive shown with our electric log splitter, welding like I am here and other equipment. But under constant load and leaving the machine to do its thing you have to factor in some cushion; so things can fluxuate without the system crashing.

Yes the shop is 100% off grid. However I do have to run gasoline for the most part as these generator's are too small to run all the equipment on wood gas. Although this year I plan to expand the product line by adding our own line of inverters, solar panels and our version of the 8750 inverter generator that will have parallel capability. If we run the generator at capacity on woodgas and then store that power, then the limiting factor is the size of the inverters output and available storage. If the average output is bellow the average charging then we can run all the equipment. Add a little solar and that makes life easier as its less fuel I will have to produce. But there is also new kiln technology that will also produce gas for gas appliances while producing engine grade charcoal. So that kiln could be used for gas supply for shop heater and produce charcoal as a by product for the gasifier to sustain shop power.

I like it. Only thing I would try differently is use old coal stove metal...but be done later if ithe metal didn't hold up to usage of alot of heat.

It seems possible to engineer the blower without being in the direct line of the gas. just by offsetting with a y tube.

Note that the last video take is a single take, no edits or splices. At the beginning of that take I showed this machine here was brand new never been ran before. So I had no previous time with it to make any last minute adjustments or testing as I am that confident in my product. I then proceed to light it up, get the engine running then load test with no hiccups. When you watch others you may note there are edits or video splices. As one who has done countless videos of running a gasifier that generally means there were problems that occurred and were cut out of the video. Dont be deceived.

Because they dont exist on the US market. These are the only blowers Ive found that have the power we want and can handle this task that will last. You can run them on DC a number of ways. One is to get a 12 volt to 48 step up module or simply get a 400 watt 12volt inverter. This is for off grid though so you will always have AC anyways from your inverter system. Good to have back up and thats as simple as the 400 watt inverter that you can run of the generators battery.

Is there any thing different that is done when using a duel fuel generator? Or basic question would a duel fuel generator be better suited for the use of wood gas?

There is no benefit other than you simply an additional fuel you can run. The adaption is exactly the same.

Current product line is already capable of this. The machines are designed so that you can team multiple gasifiers together to run larger applications. This is how you build for larger hopper capacity and do so at less cost. The M-4 Alpha will seen be released and a team of three of these units will be able to run a V8 generator in this range. However you should note any generator you must cut the output in half. So your 45 kW genny running on any wood gas will only produce around 25 kW

You really should look at getting a battery system with inverter to create the 45 kW power output. Never use a generator as a primary power mover it is very inefficient. Hi nice video and system, it was just something that crossed my mind when u filled the filter box with fine sawdust, how can that ever work, its to fine for the gas to be sucked true that powder and finefilter in that speed, the amount the engine needs gas/air, to work ..it must sufficate with that fine sawdust, well the video shows it works, and it is amazing- i just cant put it together xD If it was bigger like sawflakes then yes. You could also remove the gastank and carburator. Again good ideas and video regards

I’m looking for a total grid down system. This uses electricity for the blower motor and uses charcoal. Is it possible to run the blower off a 12v battery? I can recharge that with a solar panel. Also, why charcoal? Can’t I just use dried firewood?

You can run the blower off a 48 volts DC or just get a small inverter. You will want to get a battery bank and inverter to go with it. Its way more efficient and it will stretch your fuel out 4 times longer. Charcoal is cleaner and is actually easier fuel to produce. A wood gasifier will not run stable (hands free) it will produce dirty gas and it will produce tar. Get tar in your engine and it will destroy it. Raw wood dont work in cold climates. You must dry your fuel, kinda hard to dry frozen fuel. Put that fuel in a kiln? Better off making charcoal in the first place. Charcoal is not any less efficient. You must not forget a wood chipper requires fuel to operate or any other processing equipment and an imbert gasifier will use 30% for its internal processes. You have nothing to gain by going raw wood gas. Only a big head ache and a yard full of junk generators.

Have you run an engine like the tri-fuel duramax or other already set up for natural gas?

The adaption is the same as a gasoline. You remove the stock air cleaner and adapt the gasifier system in place of it.

Hi George, this unit here will run this generator for 1 to 1 1/2 hours depending on load. To re fuel just shut off the generator refuel and then re start the generator. You dont have to restart the entire process. The engine will fire right back up. You really should consider a battery bank and inverter then you dont have to worry about loss of power and it will be way more efficient. Way less fuel you have to produce. Now if you must have re fueling on the fly it is possible but will require the addition of additional gasifier modules. With my units you have the ability to add on to expand fuel capacity along with your application size. I offer add on modules for both the M-2 and M-3 RTR systems. With the new inveter generators some have the ability to run in parallel with an additional generator to produce a single output. Essentially doubling the output. We can also run both generator off a teamed system.

If I would have been thinking I would have pulled the recoil start over a couple of times to prime the gas to the engine. It would have then fired right up off the engine starter.

@@southerndualsport3827 Because they dont know what they are doing. You can not wood gas engines under 1000cc reliably. These are charcoal machines, so they are much less complex and free flowing, no tar, self sustaining. They basically do everything a wood gasiifer can not. I spent 10 years developing our wood fueled systems before getting here to charcoal. Charcoal is by far a better technology as the video demonstraights. Making charcoal is easier than processing wood fuels. At this small scale you MUST dry the fuel out 100% or it wont work. So I am assuming the water is for a water cooled jet? Similar to the old side blast forge where they used water cooled tuyere. Because I can not see any reason why water would be added to the mix. Just curious as to the science behind it. I am also assuming you have it burning so efficiently that you only need a fine filter to pull out any tar or is that why you use a mostly charcoal mix? Really impressed with how compact you got this. Would this be large enough to run a V8 engine?

There are two reasons for the water injection. First is yes; it is for cooling. The intake of the jet is designed to somewhat atomize the water as it forms on the drip tube. The water is carried in via the air stream and is broken up and coats the walls of the tier. The water can then evaporate more efficiently absorbing heat from the nozzle. The second function is H2 and CO production from the water shift. After post nozzle the steam is now part of the process. As the steam enters the hot carbon bed the Oxygen is ripped out of the water molecule to reform with the carbon creating CO while leaving the H2 freely. This is what is called water gas and this adds a great deal of energy density to the gas. We built direct raw fuel chip machines for over 8 years. I finally came to the conclusion it is not a viable technology for the consumer market. You can not 100% eliminate tar as there is no such thing as a tar free gasifier. They will never be exempt from producing no matter how well its made or the good the technology is. Murphy's Law will not allow this. If it can happen it will and one time that tar is produced is one time too many. However I have re classified the machines as duel fuel system they are now the DF-X Series gasifiers. They can run on either straight charcoal, 10%MC wood chips or any combination of both. Users should take extreme caution and test mixtures of fuels with charcoal before preceding to 100% raw fuels. Most probably wont bother with raw fuels as they will find making charcoal is easier and more viable than processing tiny wood pieces and waiting weeks to months for that fuel to dry. The Saw dust ammo box filter is what makes this possible. After 10 years of development building complex filtration systems this stupid ammo box filled saw dust blows all that away. If you make excessive tar that ammo box packed full of saw dust will knock out the tar. If its clogging up with tar then you need to use a different fuel. For running a V8 you would need two DFX-S4 units running in parallel.

charcoal is like running gasoline versus crude oil in an engine. Charcoal is refined fuel; all the nasty tarry carbon chains are burnt off. You are generally not burning all off though. But for principle, in the charcoal reactor, when the charcoal is oxidized you create Co2. As the Co2 reacts further with the carbon further in process the Co2 is reduced to CO. Water has a similar reaction where the oxygen combines with carbon creating CO and leaving H2 behind. The water as it converts to steam also reduces the atmosphere getting reducing nitrogen.

It ran for 1 1/2 hours. You can just refuel and keep going. Only takes 30 seconds to refuel and be back to engine running. Or you can add on the module. You can add two additional modules. This would give you 4 to 5 hours of run time. The M2 and M3 have the fusion module that allows you to fuse these additional modules. You can separate the Fusion and add the shut off valves for refueling on the fly as well. But you should be using the generator to charge a battery bank and not use it as the primary power mover. Its way more efficient that way. You then only need to charge the battery bank and then shut the thing off and save your fuel. For instance; in the shop if its just running those lights, that is a huge waste as the generator is really just idling wasting fuel.

@@joereuter9741 Dont be deceived by lead acid. It is cheaper to buy LifePo4. Here is why, Lead acid even though they might rate it at 100 amp, hours the reality is only 50% is usable because once you go bellow that, this is considered hard cycling the battery and this will dramatically reduce the life of the battery. So in reality you have to buy twice as many to compare with the same rating as the LifePo4 cells. Lifep4 you can use all of the rated amp hours without rapid degradation plus these batteries have 20 times the life of lead acid. Dont ever buy lead acid for an off grid application, they will not last. I did lead acid in the beginning and had to replace them every year for three years. Until I built a lithium ion cell pack, that was three years ago and it is still just as strong as it was when I first built it. In fact its even better as now it is fully balanced.

Can you show the continuous current at the generator under load? It would be nice to see the generator without a gas tank on it just to verify that it is running on wood gas vapor.

I use 1 1/4 hose and 1 NPT fittings. Diameter is matched to the carburetor bore of 1 inch.

For long term use there should be a filter on the air intake that is used to adjust the air/fuel mixture. You may know this but alot of other people may not. Could ruin engine in long run with a dusty enviroment. Good video though.

Ever seen a breather on a Boat? Why a generator? Its not moving, its not kicking up dust. Unless its in an environment where there is heavy dust I dont worry about it it might suck in a bug every so often. Most small engines today are rated by manufactures of a life cycle of 1500 to 2000 hours. I get that out of them every time. Keep the oil changed thats more important. Adding a filter just takes more power away; plus you cant see the mixer angle. That makes it more difficult to tune.

How do I buy one and could you use it to heat with also

Yes can can run it direct on DC or use a small inverter. If you run on DC it is much slower and start up time take much longer. Best to use a small 600 watt inverter they cost like 20 to 30 bucks.

Its AC / DC To run it on a 12 volt battery you will need to get a small 600 watt inverter. AC is the way to go though, they are far more powerful than DC blowers. You can also run it from a 12 volt to 48 volt buck converter. Or just use your off grid AC power like I do in the videos.

With a Charcoal gasifier you have to cool the Air intake Nozzle or it will melt and degrade. However the water is also shifted into H2. Therefor this also runs on water as a feul input.

Its no different than running other gaseous fuel. These are charcoal systems they dont produce soots and tars that destroy engines.

There are two reasons; First is a charcoal gasifier must have a cooling on intake nozzle to prevent it from melting and degrading. All charcoal gasifiers are plagued by this. So our units have a water injector that atomizes a water mist into the nozzle to coat the walls evenly. This water mist is then flashed to steam just as fast as it touches the walls of the nozzle. This evaporation process is what cools the nozzle. Second is there is a huge benifit to injecting water. The resulting steam is processed in the hot carbon bed and cracks the water molecule. The hot carbon reacts with the oxygen and tears it away from the hydrogen to form CO while leaving the H2 free. This product gas is called " water gas " This process is exothermic also cooling the reaction process.

For what? Its stationary, ever see an air filter on boat? Generators "typically" do not need an air filter. Unless its being ran in a dusty environment. A lot of new generators dont have filters. Predator 9500 and Duromax 9000i for instance. The air boxes come from factor empty.

Yes, I’ve seen air filters on boats generators and where I live, you would definitely want to run an air filter. You could get anything inside of your intake, especially with it, pointed straight up in the air not to the side or down which should make a little more sense to me.

@@Oldworldranch Boats generally have a screan I used to be a boat mechanic. Its just to keep bugs out. Adding an air filtier will rob power and then yuou cant see the valve angle. After you fiddle with a gasifier you will eventually rip that air cleaner off and throw it in the garbage. Trust me been doing this a while and I am an engineer and I used to be an ASE certified tech. You dont need an air cleaner on stationary equipment unless the environment requires it. If there is not dust then there is nothing to be concerned about. There is not dust where those generators sit. Air cleaners come on those engines because they are used on a ton off applicaitons. Some of those applications move like a lawn mower. Yeah its going to create dust and lot of it. Or like a go kart yup more dust. A generator no man its not kicking up dust. I do this for a living and I run those generators everyday I am off grid those generators supply my power 24/7 365 days a year. If you are worried that little bit of dust then you certainly wont want to run a generator with a wood gasifier then is the least of your worries.

Ever seen an air filter on a boat? Unless you are running a generator next to a farm plowing the fields a generator does not need a filter. A generator generally does not kick up dust or is in an environment where dust is a problem.

I live off grid 18 years now, working on engines 40 years now , a simple cone filter from ebay for a small engine is cheaper than a piston or cylinder wall after a grain of sand is sucked through your valve after a wind kicks up . Well that's only if your not running indoors. Dirt is every where and boats do have air filters on there engine. Not all outboard engines do but we don't plan to use the genny in the lake . Just thought that in my world gennys cost money and run in dirty areas filters protect from dirt . Oh, I literally make a living repairing generators, and it's always nice telling a customer they need a new engine because they chose not to use a filter.

@@offgridprofessor201 Im not saying you cant put a filter on it. If thats what you want nothing stopping you from doing it. Been doing all this a long time too. I was also an auto tech and worked in small engine repair not to mention those very generators we run the shop off grid. I dont like having the filter as I want too see the valve position. The small amount of dust if any is not going to hurt these engines. We still get the expected life out of them regardless if they have a filter or not. For me I dont really care as I know there is not excessive dust out there to hurt anything. It also adds air restriction and in the wood gas world we as much power as we can get. For most situations the filter is not needed and added complexity.

Second, selling a piece of equipment that removes the air filter off another piece of equipment that had one and you don't provide a method of keeping the customers equipment from getting damaged. Ie no air intake filter sets your business up for a liability suit . An 8 dollar air filter on your fresh air intake will protect you from liability on a generator that's not yours. That genny most likely has a chrome lined cylinder a small piece of sand will score it and cause the chrome to flake and within a few hours of run time you will have pretty metal flakes in your oil . And a pile of junk. Because you, the manufacture failed to protect yourself by providing a proper filter you are responsible for damages to the genny , ask a lawyer, I have one us patent. Spent money on lawyers, manufactured valves for 7 years before selling the business sold valves in all 50 states and 12 countries around the world . Liability in a damage suit caused by your product will eat every penny you make . Next is state liability, Every generator has a sticker or note of compliance for emissions in every state Modified fuels and locating the fuel / air control to the valve on your product violates the emission laws in several states especially California, a sticker and reference to the fema docs that your product is intended for emergency use bla bla bla, fema,bla bla bla .docs bla bla bla get the picture, protects you from liability, cali is full of lawyers That like robbing guys trying to get a business going. Find a used 4 gas analyzer fleebay whatever check out service stations auto repair shops that have been around at least back to the 80s they may give you one free and run a gas check on the genny running pump fuel 87 octane And 91 octane then do same with your product, if your product meets or exceeds the original you can use it as a liability protection and as advert on emissions improvements, if not so good, back to emergency use and fema bla bla bla. You have a nice product, would like to see your business grow and sell thousands of units, but your attitude to my original comment about a filter , Not appropriate, next is a word in your video you never use. In any way shape or form about a possible problem associated with your product. Explode! That's a bad word it implies death potential . Gas ignition, thermal overload, thermal run away and melt down, these are safe words. Could imply the same result but safer to say about your product. So this is not a wood gasifier. It’s a charcoal gasifier. I’m looking for a unit that I can fire with raw wood and other dried biomass in.

We offer the DXF-14 see our latest video. However, charcoal is best for small engines under 1000cc. Small engine gasifiers are very dificult to flow, they are dificult to sustain tar cracking temperuatures and are also much more complex. Charcoal is also easier to make it is not harder to produce charcoal. In winter months in north its not even viable to run a wood gasifier as its nearly impossible to have dry fuel for everyday use. In any case we do offer the DXF that can run both fuels equally well not to mention it has 12 years of development behind it.

So where does the WOOD go?? ridiculous to first make charcoal and then gasify it when you could gasify WOOD and the remaining stuff will be charcoal that you can use to make more gas from wood and get more charcoal in the process.

We sell the VFX-14 Wood gasifier. You should spend some time on our website and start learning. For small engines under 1000cc wood fuel does not work all that well. A gasifier that small will NOT flow. It WILL tar those little engines up. Its also easier to make charcaol than it is wood fuel. You dont just chip fuel up and chuck it in a gasifier. You must sort and classify the fuel and must 100% dry the fuel. You can not run fuel with any moisture on a small engine. It will make tar and never run stable. Wood fuel systems are for large engines. For small engines you run charcoal. If you want to be fooled by all these 2 minute run videos of these one off builds on KZread be my guess. I am a leading developer and carry the global market share. Ive been doing this for over 12 years. What you are going to find here is reality instead of misguided builds by novices.
