How I installed a rotary encoder on my Precision Matthews PM-25MV and up my spindle speed to 3440 RPMs without a motor change.

Exsctly what I was looking for. I have not seen anything either on youtube besides Kent's video. Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic, a nice simple solution! I experimented with mounting a spindle to the drawbar and using the servo encoder feedback, but I easily like your solution best. What is the highest RPM your encoder can handle?

Actually I'm not sure but I'm using the same one that guys are using going to 4500 RPMs.

@@Roadstercycle Looks like you have the E6B2-CWZ1X with 2000 p/r. Specs say the encoder has mechanical integrity to 6000 RPM, but resolution determine maximum electrical response. 2000 p/r -> 3000 RPM, 1000 p/r -> 6000 RPM, and so on. I ordered the 1000 p/r for my mill, and will use a similar Koyo 2500 p/r that I already have for my lathe. Thank you

Could I ask where you got your pulleys?

what size pulley did you use to achieve the 3100 rpm? Great idea by the way.

Hi, I really can't measure it with the belt on but I just made it as big as I could to fit it and the belt on the motor shaft without rubbing. I actually end up at about 3140 RPMs. I also had to cut the motor mount to make it work. Email me jack@roadstercycle.com and I'll take a couple pics for you to clarify.
