We stayed at a bed & breakfast when my sister was visiting Mass Gen'l for an interview...I strolled down the street to Newman Square in Cambridge, and went in to have a beer. Preacher Jack was playing. You would have thought there was an auditorium of thousands, instead it was me, my sister, and perhaps a dozen others....It was probably the best concert I've ever been to, and I've been to plenty...I bought two albums, had them signed, still have them and still listen to them, and that was decades ago at this point.

Preacher Jack is the man. I found 'Return Of The Boogie Man' in a record store in Berkeley 12 years ago, bought it without knowing a darned thing about him, and most definitely didn't regret it. He is electric.

Underrated, great rock 'n roller!

Played with him while I was in prison! Yup, he came by to play for us and I got to sit in with other members of my band. He was fantastic! He killed it and tore the place apart. Prison is a tough group to play for!

Super Talent IMO

I hired him to play my piano on the front stage at Dodge st. bar&grill...He is a interesting cat, he had issues and is on the level 3 records. I tried to help him and paid him well. He is hanging on by a thread at Tewksbury state hospital. God bless him he is a talent.

Preacher Jack needs to get over to the Catbird Cafe on Sat afternoons ..at the NewEngland Wildlife Center..he os great!

Back in the 80's we had Preacher Jack at our bar in Truro, N.S. on a couple occasions . It was an event like the Stones had come to town. His energy was a little unpredictable and unstable, but entertaining for sure.

This was done at WCVB ch 5, not WHDH. WHDH went off air and WCVB came on in spring of 1972, However, "Five All Night, Live All Night" did not air for about a couple of years later. Nonetheless, Jack is a Boston treasure and I for one am grateful this has been uploaded.

I see him wandering around Salem occasionally, looking homeless (which, as I understand it, at times he has been in recent years). Very sad to see him in such a reduced state. Although as I understand it, and as he's intimated in a couple conversations, he brought that on himself in large part.

+pike606 If that's what you take from what I said, then you've misread the tone of my comment entirely. He's an extremely talented performer, and a nice man. If I had the means to help, I would, but I don't. And in the few conversations I've had with him, without my prompting, he has, half-jokingly, talked about how he's gone through, and is still going through, a lot of hard knocks, and that nobody's to blame for that but himself.

Who, just seen someone say he’s not in the same class as Jerry Lee! That’s right, the preacher could play circles around Jerry Lee! The preacher was a phenomenon! Could play in his sleep! It was nothing for him when he played, like breathing! He would have Smoked Jerry Lee Lewis! Watch his hands. Some of the musicians that play take time off there reg gigs to play with the preacher for 15 min. When these are top shelf players.
