Update from my last comment- I PASSED!!!! 4-1-2022 (First attempt at everything and passed with flying colors). Thank you so much Joe Baker for taking the time and making this video. I studied for a month straight, watched this video and a few others on backing maneuvers. It also helped that I had a very nice examiner. You definitely want to make sure you say exactly what Joe says (Securely mounted, not cracked bent or broken, no frayed or loose wires, and no abrasions bulges or cuts etc). Remember, even though it may seem easier said than done, remain calm and speak clearly, point and touch the item you are explaining, take some deep breath’s and you will be just fine 👍🏻😊

In NJ i took my class B test 7-16-18 and the inspector said i would've passed but didnt physically touch everything in the engine that i said so he failed me. Anyone taking the Pre trip touch everything you say I passed on 7-30-18 i touched & named so much things the guy started laughing & said stop touching everything you see. once i got past the pre trip it was easy as hell. My advice is touch everything and stay calm they're on your time not theirs

I didn’t touch everything that I mentioned as I turned it into a “lesson” as if I were the instructor teaching a student. I think the examiner like that I spoke in a practical sense and not like a robot mindlessly regurgitating info.

@@Mjk86 well. The biggest thing that people fail on is the air brake test. So make sure you got that system down pat. Turn key off and back on, fan down to low warning indicator, then continue until Parking brake pops out, restart and idle up to build air pressure until governor cutoff. Do the tug test (parking brake test) then service brake test. Also during the manuverability test, make sure to use all you looks especially during the alley dock backing. Usually you get two looks. If you aren't in the box you fail that part. I took mine in Arkansas. It is different state to state

Hey I just wanted to say thanks for making this video. I passed my CDL test today with flying colors. The dmv testers don’t make you do the whole inspection especially when you start as detailed as this video. I was told to stop and get in the truck. Good luck to everybody who’s working towards there license, this video certainly helped.

Finally passed my test CDL b, in NJ.... This video and others helped especially the air brake test.... Touch everything, even if you don't know the name of it, touch it, just keep talking, if it's metal ,(( not bent, broke, cracked)) if it's rubber,(( no cuts, buldges abrasions)) securely mounted etc, air lines say the same but add no audible leaks etc..... Don't forget to chalk your wheels, 1st time I failed because I didn't chalk wheels.....

Chalk your wheels after brake test right before you do your outside pre inspection right? I’m pretty nervous I’m taking mine tomorrow for class b in Tennessee using a dump truck I’m not going to a dmv cause the ones in Memphis do not do the CDl skills test I’m testing at an actual CDl college any advice?

At 26:58, his voice cracks right as he says “not bent cracked or broken”. Coincidence? No way. It was orchestrated for comedic effect. Anyway, great video! Excellent, well spoken instructor. This will be my go-to lesson as I study repeatedly for my CDL. Thanks for the video.
