I am a Pakistani, born in Germany. Our grandfather told us that during partition some crazy people who came from outside started killing our Sikh neighbours. Some sikhs who survived hide in The fields. My grandfather took them at night in his horse and brought them to the border. There they all cried together holding each other in arms...than our Sikh neighbours left

British agents nehru and jinnah divided india 😖😖 my grandfather came from jhelum district in punjab pakistan to india and it was very painful 😢

My mother was from Lahore. Till her last breath, she always talked about her muslim friends that were in pakistan. In 1961 & then in 1964 she (with family) was invited to weddings of her friends siblings, which she attended. All pictures that she had were of friends hugging each other & all had tears in their eyes. Love, it did not matter to these friends wether they were SIKH, Hindu or Muslim, they were friends. Till 1971 she remained in contact with her friends in pakistan, but after that, slowly these communications died down. Sad, heart breaking.

1947 को हम सब आजाद नहीं बल्कि तबाह हुये थे सैंकड़ों सालों के लिये आपस में लड़ झगड़ कर मरने और पीढ़ी दर पीढ़ी नफरत की खाई खोदते जाने के लिये क्या इसीको आजादी कहते हैं पहले ही दिन आधी आबादी मर कट कर खत्म हो गई मिल जुलकर लड़ी आजादी की लड़ाई क्या सिर्फ इसलिये ताकि आजाद होते ही एक दूसरे के दिलों में नफरत के जहर भर दें हम , इन बुजुर्गों की बात सुन कर सच में मन में ख्याल आता है कि इस आज़ादी से तो वो गुलामी ही भली थी कम से कम आपस में भाईचारा तो था । आजादी तो मिली थी उस दिन हमें पर शायद इन्सानियत और भाईचारे से काश के ये नफरत किसी रोज़ खत्म हो जाये

Agar yeh log is ghulami mein Muslim bhi ban jaayein to bhi yeh aazaadi na paayengey aur nasl dar nasl inki aulaad Musalmanon ki ghulaami karti rahegi! Yeh tha Pakistan ka matlab! Achha hua keh aisa hua aur Pakistan mein 1947 se abtak bachey khuchey Hindu aur Sikh rape aur qatl ki maar sahte sahte Pakistan chhor kar baahar vchaley gaye hain. Bahut se ghareeb Sindhi Hinduon ko Bharat mein izzat ke saath laa kar basaaya jaa raha hai. Agar 2019 mein Modi Ji aur BJP jeet kar humumat sanbhaal lete hain tab:- 1.Ham Kashmir mein Afghan Hindu aur Sikhon ko zameen de kar Musalmaanon ke baghal mein basaayengey aur baaqi Punjab Uttarakhand, aur Arunachal Pradesh ke Hindu aur Buddhist logon ko Kashmir mein Article 370 ko radd kar ke itne Hindu aur Sikh logon ko Kashmir mein basaa dengey keh Kashmiri Musalman phir kabhi Pakistan se milne ki baat na karega. 2. Ham International pressure create kar ke Pakistan mein thahre huye aik aik Hindu aur Sikh aur Christian family ko wahaan se chhura kar Bharat mein laa kar basaa dengey. 3.Ham un ghaddaar Bharat mein rahne waale Musalmaanon ke ghar jalaa kar unki gardan maar kar Bharat ki mitti se unka naam o nishaan mitaa dengey jo Bharat mein rahkar Pakistan ki himaayat karta hai. Pakistani Musalmaanon tumne kya samjha hai keh Navjot Sigh Sidhhu se galey milkar tum Bharat ko dhoka dogey? Aisa naheen hoga aur aao aikbaar aur jung karo hamse bhikaariyo! Jung karo naheen nalkeh Jihaad karo ham kaafaron se aur nateeja dekho! Tum to Nuclear Power ho! Aao jung karo!

Well this is an account of one person and whatever he is saying is true and emotional but surely there must be a reason why people were willing to give their life for independence of Pakistan. It's not about partition it's about living peacefully with each other. This is not the right forum to discuss why there was need for partition. I can give you dozens of reasons but it's not an appropriate forum my dear friend. Thank you for your feedback I appreciate it a lot.

Well common people never had a say in the partition. It was the politicians. I am an indian, my ancestors are from Lahore. They all say the same things. That it was peacefull. I have muslims, Sikhs atheists here in India as friends and colleagues. Just like the old times. But Pakistani people will never believe it as it questions the two nation theory in first place. They don't understand this. The whole of India you will find Hindus Muslims Sikhs and Christians . And they are diverse. A Muslim from UP shares a lot with me than a Hindu from Kerala. Partition never made sense. In every city in India, there are mosques, temples gurudwaras and churches. And people live mingled together. But Pakistanis will never believe it. India has been like that for the last millennia.

Disagree, there was a logic agree or not, the situation of some particular groups was extremely bad. Perhaps if you read history you would take it all back, there was no equality at the time, no respect for particular groups of people and racism, they where treated worse than crap, so partition even though it caused alot of lives to be lost was for the better of both countries, people couldnt even fight for their rights, it would have been worse if partition didnt happen, genocides would still be happening and even in worse numbers, the hindus didnt like Muslims and the Muslims didnt like them so how can you assume that they would be able to live peacefully together? This is what makes partition logical, though there may have been friends between these two religious groups but little in numbers...

Hey Mukund it is not only the British ruler divided in to India and Pakistan. The main culprit were our own polictician who gave room to Britishes for dividing just for their greed towards power popularity Fame and money. Britishes instigated and our own policticians implemented all are equally responsible for this partitation. Don't know about British but India and Pakistan is really paying a high price because of this partitation till today. Now it is a high time that both the countries policticians should understand and come under one umbrella of peace. The present day british dont even know their country's role in India's history. They could share the collective guilt. Yet we need to move past the past. We need to think about the present and future and that we want open borders and being able to meet each other freely like before. We want no warring india Pakistan or Bangladesh. We want peaceful indian subcontinent. Akhand bharat. Let's let bygone be bygones and move on. I was watching 'me, my family and partiton'. I really couldnt stop the tears. No more hate.

It's so tragic that the people who lived as brothers only a generation or two ago now find themselves at such odds with each other. While a great trust deficit has been accumulated over the years, it's my fervent hope that we will find a way normalize relations between the two countries to the point where the free movement of people across borders will be a common affair.

The language he is speaking is pothwari and this language is known as poonchi in india refuges who migrated from Rawalpindi side talk in this language and now it is spoken moslty in jandk it is such a beautiful dialect 😊😊😊

Great job. Please let Chachaji know, India and Indians send their salutations. We see partition as a part of our history. Those who have gone through it see it in their memories. Friends and families uprooted for political gains on both sides of the border. Even today our media and politicians keep dividing us... one to sell their news the other to stay in power.

A part of my distant family lives in Karachi. My great grandfather (who was also a Subhedar in the Br Indian army until 1947) ended all ties with them when they chose to stay. Sometimes I wonder how they are doing though... But I'm glad that his sister and her husband came along when he went there to rescue them post partition.
