Excellent Simon fabulous horn. You can’t beat Selmer they’ve got there own distinctive sound. I remember buying the tenor version for a school band Zi was teaching in Nottingham. Th head generously coughed up the cash so we could have it. You get Simon or see it goes to a good home. Another fine video from you both. God bless. !! Bill. Uk 🎷🎷🎷

Before the balanced action. Also the very early Selmers had saxophones with left bell keys. The balanced actions were the first horns with the right bell keys.

I own a #13,*** Cigar Cutter alto. Played it for 25 years. Needs a complete remanufacture overhaul. Haven't found a modern alto that sounds as sweet.

I had the Selmer model called New Large Bore made in 1930, serial 13xxx for many years, it did not have the signature "cigar cutter" but was otherwise very similar. Sweet sound but intonation was a serious challenge. Personally, I much prefer my Yamaha 82Z, but that is just me.

It has unique sound. Nothing in the modern saxophone world resembles it, not even remotely, and not even Selmer's Balanced Action sounds like it. Were the metal resonators originally fitted on this saxophone in 1930s, though?
