She thought that they might be there too . 4 . Claire avoided looking Sarah in the eyes because she didn't know what to say or to do . 5 . The girls were happy to meet . Спасибо за Ваш труд. Очень полезные уроки. По поводу глагола stop и использования после него герундия. После stop можно ведь использовать и инфинитив, просто меняется значение: 1. They stopped smoking (они перестали курить) 2. They stopped to smoke (они остановились, чтобы перекурить)

Здравствуйте, еще раз, получается, если carry on, keep - cинонимы, значит можно сказать the storm kept raging outside? Но автор пишет, что storm carried on, people kept coming. Как вы думаете, почему автор так соотнес эти синонимы? Или просто не забивать этим голову? 😊 И еще я не поняла, почему перед people нет артикля the. Last question: start всегда с глаголом с ing?

Здравствуйте. Автор - это я. Это синонимы, я использовала разные слова, чтоб не было тавтологии. the people - узкий контекст, тут не нужно the После start можно ing, можно to

Можно ли в данном тексте заменить So I did скажем на me to ? И еще мне всегда было интересно использования частиц up и down, обязательно ли их добавлять к глаголам sit и stand как часто нас учили в школе? И так понятно что когда мы встаем мы совершаем движение вверх а когда садимся то опускаемся вниз.

me too зачастую можно использовать,как перефраз up и down показываю направление stand - просто стоять stand up - встать (из сидячего положения, к примеру) go - идти go down - спускаться вниз write - писать (просто писать) write down - записать (чтоб написанное оказалось на бумаге) Это тонкие оттенки смысла, постепенно вы научитесь их улавливать

Есть из популярных случаем только одно исключение I look forward to hearing from you soon (стандартная фраза окончания письма) оборот look forward to -ing коварен тем, что to в нем - это предлог а не частица. А все думают, что to - частица, поэтому не понимаю, зачем ing.

нет, это две разные темы, они не пересекаются

1. Why did so many people come to the hotel? It’s well known that it was heavy rain and it was going to be a tornado! That’s why almost all the citizens of their town were in Royal Hotel. It was considered one of the highest buildings and strongest in their city. 2. How did they look? Judging by the scared faces of people Claire saw in the place, all of these people were funky and didn’t know what to do in this situation. 3. Who was Claire looking for? Almost all of the town’s people were already in the hotel, and Claire thought there might be Sarah and Jack. That’s what Claire was looking for. 4. Why did Claire avoid looking Sarah in the eyes? I am afraid to seem wrong, but Claire was pleased when she met Sarah but didn’t know what to say or do. That’s why Claire avoided looking Sarah in the eyes. 5. Were the girls happy to meet? I suppose that they were happy to meet each other. They almost were about to start crying Thank you for the lesson! 🍉🍉🍉

Actually there doesn't matter what happened between two girls they love each other.

В словаре нашла, что fancy среди множества значений имеет перевод как воображать, представлять себе. Например, i can't fancy him as a soldier! Получается синоним слову imagin? Как то слишком много в английском у одного слова смыслов и применений. Видимо придётся с этим смириться.

@@newday6014 Не все полностью пишу я, мне еще помогает девушка. Часть материала пишет она. Но все правки и конечный вариант - это пишу я. Это колоссальная работа, но она остается "за кадром", к сожалению.

Скажите пожалуйста, словарь Логмана есть в интернете. Но люди покупают его в виде книги. В чем разница? Я хочу купить, потому что от телефона и компьютера краснеют глаза. А почему покупают другие? Только из- за того что интернет может быть не везде и всегда?

Много причин помимо вашей, люди любят книги, любят листать страницы, любят видеть объем книги, удобно пользоваться. Не всем комфортно пользоваться телефоном или компьютером. Не у всех всегда есть интернет. А книга - это книга.

Если с глаголом keep, то не думаю, что кто-то стает использовать вариант в Past Continious

Да, если глагол, но у нас тут не глагол.

4:47 почему? Потому что как вы себе представляете два предлога подряд? Give up to smoke звучит странно, не так ли, поэтому герундий.

Give up to smoke - так не говорят. После give up гужен глагол с ing, если вы указываете действие.

Could I possibly say : “ I avoided looking at her eyes straigthly” instead of “l avoided looking her straight in the eyes” ?

Да, можно, но звучит не так органично

В том то и проблема, что для тех кто в школе не учил или учит самостоятельно, эта тема выпадает из поля зрения сразу после изучения самой первой формы инфинитива. И тема совершенно не простая. Из-за непонимания разницы происходит путаница во временах. Герундий просто из-за отсутствия такой части речи сложно понять.

Знать грамматику и уметь говорить на английском - не одно и то же. Грамматико-переводной метод - самый неэффективный для изучения и преподавания языка.

в данном плейлисте мы занимаемся именно грамматикой, фокусируемся на отработке грамматических шаблонов. Но последнее упражнение, если вы его, конечно, делаете, довольно эффективно, и помогает развить именно разговорный навык. Ваша задача - глядя на русский текст, сделать его устный перевод вслух на английский. если вы будете делать письменный перевод, то будете "прокачивать" только письмо. если перевод будет "про себя", то речь прокачиваться вообще не будет. Так что важно проработать упражнение вслух. Благодаря большому количеству заданий (уже более 50-ти), их выполнение даст хороший результат. Если вы сделаете все упражнения по данной методике, но не получите результата, обязательно напишите мне, попробуем разобраться вместе, что не так.

Да конечно, грамматика это фундамент, а в каком книге еще можно продолжать делать упражнения по теме которые мы проходим.
