Sigismund is in Poland (?), whereas Zikmund (shown here) is in the Czech Republic.

@@FranzFerdinandVIII There are two bells with same names in English, just transcription to the national languages is different. Czech Zikmund and polish Zygmunt... Patron is the same old french king. That's it... :D

Wirklich ein gewaltiges Teil! Btw.: in englischsprachigen Ländern ist der Ton fis° nicht bekannt. Dort wird er als F# oder Gb bezeichnet (ohne Oktavangabe!).

Reminds me of the old Pummerin. Too bad that bell was destroyed in 1945 :(

@@abandonedchannel9970 The old Pummerin was rung by 16 men and it took 15 minutes to first sound it. The old Pummerin weighed 18.161 tons and it has an H note and not a G sharp. @@abandonedchannel9970 Until 1878, when someone forced that it would only be rung by swinging its clapper due to the weight of the bell and it's bell frame was made of wood. It's weight also endangered the structure of where it was hung: the soaring spire, or the south tower.

@@abandonedchannel9970 Old Pummerin was swung the same way the Zikmund is rung. The Half-Pummerin, or Johannesglocke, destroyed in the same year, got electric ringing mechanism in 1925. I found a photo of it. And back then, before it was rung by swinging its clapper, electricity wasn't invented.

It is not necessary to wear them. His voice is very low and pleasing. Past 10 years of ringing I don't know about aftereffects.

There are more notes than 2, even if they are not easy to hear. You are hearing the fundamental tone and one of the more prominant overtones or partials. This happens for any natually vibrating bell, wire, bar, soundboard, column of air... etc., even our voices. You did well. Most people don't pay enough attention to even notice how many tones they are hearing.

Judging from the marks on the perpendicular sides. The bell must have been turned 90 degrees prior.

Nkteří ano, někteží ne. Jak si kdo zvykne od začátku. Když si po nějakých měsících zvonění dáte špunty do uší, nebo je naopak přestanete používat, zní to pro vás nezvykle a hůř rozeznáváte jednotlivé údery pro správné zvonění.

I wondered that... but thinking about it if the clapper was just left hanging in the centre, it wouldn't hit the bell until it was swinging a lot, then it would hit it HARD. Too hard, i bet? Bells can break! I don't think you actually want the clapper to hit the bell as hard as possible!

Wow, such a massive bell, but that's nothing compared to the Tsar bell in the Trinity-St Sergius Lavra in Russia, which weighs 72 TONS. But this has such a magnificent sound, and being in it's own chamber too.

Hier hat man versäumt, als vor ein paar Jahren der alte Klöppel gebrochen ist, einen gescheiten neuen Klöppel einzubauen, wieder so ein ungenügender Schiben-Klöppel. Das ist eigentlich nur ein Pendeln der Glocke, ich möchte mal wissen, welches Potenzial in dieser Glocke wirklich stecken würde, wenn die mal mit einem gescheiten Klöppel richtig hoch geschwungen würde......
