Hi Alexa et merci beaucoup pour ce leçon. In example number 6, I chose the word "bonne" instead of bien because I translated the word "note" as a noun, meaning RECORD. Using the rules you have described earlier my reasoning was that because bon is used as an adjective to describe the good mark or record so therefore we use bon instead of bien. Please tell me, did I misunderstand your explanation of the rules? How and why did you define "good record/mark" as a concept instead of a noun?. Thanks.

Dear Craig, BIEN is used here as it follows C"EST (it is), we do not here describe the NOTE but the concept that IT IS GOOD that you had a good score. IT is such a hard one to teach I must admit!

Very good lesson, but I'm still a little confused. Examples you have given are: "C'est une fille bien" & "Ce sont de bons eleves." Bien describes the girl, a noun, and bons describes the students, a noun. Also, how would you say, "Everything (all the food served) was very good - bon, bonne, or bien? Thank you - of all the French instructors on KZread, you are the best!

Des becomes de if a verb is used in negativ form. Je ne mange jamais de carottes. If there is an adjectiv before the noune. Il y a de belles roses dan ce ce jardin.
