Practicing Our Camp Setup

We have set up our new tent and our camp kitchen for a little practice close to home. We want to check everything out before we actually load up and head out on a trip.

Cool kitchen! You guys know how to enjoy yourselves! The open toe wedges were the best part 😂 I know you were in your own yard, but after talking about the d-lux air bed and elbow room of the tent, the glam continued with the shoes….👏👏👏💅🏼 Thank you for sharing. I love seeing how other people put their equipment together.

I remember the last time we used a tent. It was a wall tent that my husband and a friend had made. We were testing it out prior to their first use on a hunting trip. It had no floor and wasn’t staked down. The frame was a little off and the doors didn’t fully overlap as intended. Let’s just say it didn’t stay on the frame. My husband was annoyed with me because I kept saying I think the tent is going to blow off the frame and he kept saying it isn’t, it will be fine. So while he slept, I laid there watching the tent rise then lower over and over again, until with one big gust of racing wind coming down the canyon and right into our tent it lifted straight off the frame. I managed to grab a hold of a piece of the canvas all the while yelling to wake up my husband to help me save his tent! Needless to say, our friends camping on either side of us were laughing so hard they couldn’t hardly get out of their own tents to help us. I made it known by morning that if he wanted to go camping again then he needed to go buy us a trailer! He did and we camped happily for 17 years in it. After using it for many years without our kids with us, we decided to sell the bunkhouse and buy a 5th wheel which my husband had been wanting for some time. We continue to use that trailer to this day. We can laugh about the flying tent today but in the moment I was more than mad about it. So, kudos to you for tent camping, I look forward to seeing your many adventures! 🏕

Life long camper here, 30 years in Alaska. I would love to see you demo the chair. I have sat in that type before and couldn’t get out of it without help! 🤣 I was at a concert and it might have been a little shorter. Also, I love recliner time at home when my back is aching. Your chairs look like they are slightly reclined. I might like that! I want to add that I had a squirrel ruin a zipper on my backpack while trying to get at some trail mix while I filtered water streamside. Your gasketed tote is a great way to store foods that appeal to rodents. Hopefully they leave your spice cube alone!

The chairs are reclined and low, but fairly easy to get out of. We wanted something smaller that we could carry with us on our 4 wheelers. We will demo them in an upcoming video.

We are about to head up to our gtfo camp. I got some new cast iron for camp. I got a cap for the truck too. It should keep things dry and from needing to be tied down. I finally got a rustic kitchen area set up at camp. Using an old shed door with hole cut for an old cast sink. That's a great idea to keep charcoal dry.

We haven't gone camping for several years. We like to backpack in and camp very remotely, but I think we both realized our last backpack camping trip we are just getting a little older to carry 30 lb packs for several miles. One piece of equipment we both love and have talen several times are our thermarest cots. Fairly lightweight, easy to setup once you figure it out the 1st time, and with a nice sleeping pad there is no discomfort. Since we got those cots, there are now other brands that make a better set up and are lighter weight. Just a thought if the inflatable mattress does not work out....

That's a great setup! We have used a blow up bed setup like that both for camping and a guest bed at home. They're great but I've come to the end of the road with them because no matter what I spend they just don't last long before they leak. We can never seem to successfully fix them with patches. I'm researching off the ground alternatives. People who equip for fishing trips seem to be ahead of the game on comfortable bedding... I'm still looking.

Love the setup, only thing I would say, dont underestimate the need for a good under tent or inflatable bed buffer, old blanket, movers blanket, something, it will greatly extend the lifespan of the tent and bed. We purchased an inflatable bed for camping. Best to put something between you and the plastic, like a sleeping bag, so you don’t sweat. The mattress was attached to an expandable frame. Idk if they still sell them due to an inherent design flaw. Unfortunately, while closing the frame on the deflated mattress, it was pinched rendering it useless for the remainder of the trip. Good idea to put a padding under it. Congratulations on your new channel. What a great idea! I really enjoy it.

Kids LOVE camping! It’s a great way to travel inexpensively! State and national parks are fabulous places to explore. You do need several basic things. Tent, sleeping bags, sleeping pads (very important), clothing for weather events. Meals can be so much fun outside, if well planned. Think about your menu, then list all the ingredients and tools needed for it. Camping stove. Pots & pans, utensils, plates, bowls, mugs can all go in a nylon gym bag. Put food items in a separate canvas, or grocery bag - food must be shut in the car at night to keep 4 legged camp visitors away (unless you are in Florida!) Have fun!

Great looking set up! I’d love to know more about your aluminum table. I’ve been thinking about getting one for a couple of years now and prefer to go with one that someone “I know” has actually used rather than an online review. (I didn’t see it in your Amazon shop)

I put it in the Amazon shop. I will go back to make sure it is there. I just checked and it is there in the Camping Gear section right in the middle. The picture does not look like it has that aluminum top, but that is it.

Do you have heard in your area? If so, how do you protect food from the bears. You don’t have a closed vehicle to put it in. Also, as Trail Grazers, do you forage on the trail?

There are bears more to the north of us in the Wasatch and Uinta mountains. If we camp in bear country, we would close the food up in our truck. I need to learn more about foraging when we are out.

It is an Aerobed with headboard and I could not find our model when I looked just now. There are other brands that look pretty good, howver.
