I have no doubt this is effect, my issue would be in a live self defense setting. There is so much movement in a live setting the likelihood of you hitting exactly where you want is slim with someone actively trying to take your life. Not to mention every fight I have been in sporting or street or even witnessed; there is no such thing as a wrist grab. It is not even attempted. It is a nonexistent scenario.

I agree with you in its context. This is a specific hapkido technique highlighting specific targets with specific tools with angle and direction. All of which can be used individually and independently of any particular type of attack. that is what we're learning. With that mind think of only taking the final strike with the bone of pain in any given situation. But I am with you 100% in the premise of your presentation.

This stuff (I'm using a polite word there) isn't going to work in real life. First of all, there's no way to be twisting things to get target areas exposed for your next fancy technique. Secondly, that neck shot is only good to look at; there's zero way anyone can generate enough power from the position shown to cause anything other than an annoyance. By the way, there is no need for violence to break a single-grip lock. Aikdo teaches a simple technique anyone can learn to break such grips with minimal use of force and absolutely no violence.
