PR BOBBIN KNOT: THE UNBREAKABLE FISHING KNOT (100% Knot)

Ойын-сауық

Have you tried this "unbreakable" fishing knot yet?
We couldn’t believe it when Captain Dylan Hubbard first told us that the PR Bobbin Knot has 100 percent knot strength… but so far it’s proven to be true.
The PR Bobbin Knot is the only fishing knot guaranteed to hold up 100 percent of the time (assuming you tie it correctly like Joe from Dogfish Tackle shows you in this video).
What does 100% knot strength mean?
It means that your fishing line - braid, fluorocarbon or monofilament - will break before the PR Bobbin Knot will (100% of the time).
This is the ultimate line-to-line connection.
See the full post on how to tie the PR Bobbin Knot here:
www.saltstrong.com/articles/p...
You need to make sure you have the following items to tie this knot. What you’ll need:
Bobbin - This is a small tool that loads the tag end of your mainline up onto the tool in order to make the wraps you need to tie the PR Bobbin Knot. The bobbin helps you keep line tension during the tying process.
Mainline - You need a large amount of mainline tag end to spool onto your bobbin for the knot.
Leader Line - You need a large spool of leader line to attach to the mainline for this knot.
Steps for the PR Bobbin Knot:
Step 1 - Thread your braided line onto the bobbin
Step 2 - Spool the bobbin with your braid line
Step 3 - Tighten the bobbin's drag down
Step 4 - Overlap your leader line and braid line
Step 5 - Make wraps with your braid tag end up the leader line
Step 6 - Wrap the leader mainline around your hand
Step 7 - Spin the bobbin around your lines in tight coils
Step 8 - Unwrap your hand from the leader
Step 9 - Pinch the overlap point
Step 10 - Loosen the bobbin drag
Step 11 - Make a half hitch
Step 12 - Make another half hitch
Step 13 - Make a Uni Loop
Step 14 - Unwrap the Uni coils
Step 15 - Pull the braid ends tight
Step 16 - Cut and burn the tag ends
If you have any questions about how to tie this knot, let us know in the comments below.

This knot has its place: Heavy tackle, heavy drag, prolonged fights, and heavy leaders. I'd tie the PR knot on my heavy LBSF gear to join shock leader to braided main line, or my reef donkey boat rigs while watching TV, but when using medium tackle for bluefish or pompano, a fast double uni or improved Alberto will do.

Those knots won’t allow you to fish 30# braid like this will. With this knot you could fish 20# of drag on 30# braid and not get close to breaking the line. Can’t say that about those knots.

I like the FG wrap with 4-5 alternating squares and rizzuto finish for line to leader while I'm out fishing it is not tough to get it right fast when you've tied a few...really if you get a knot breaking you are likely not lubricating it enough or overtensioning it and damaging the mono/fluoro...I can't be keeping up with a bobbin on a boat or on the beach...:)

8:00 - This method of finishing the knot is called a Rizzuto Finish. The half hitches before it are optional tbh. The Rizzuto tightens towards the PR knot, so they cinch into each other.

I’ve learned an even better PR version from some slow pitch jigging pioneers from Japan. I love the FG but the PR beats it all the way. Take the extra time to do it before your trip and You will never have to retie on the boat again. In fact, it’s so strong I’ve never had a break off in so long I can’t remember. Only draw back is if you hook the ocean floor, you better pray you can jimmy your lure out. Unbreakable.

They are faster to tie than an fg knot when u tie them often. Hes giving a demonstration and explaining it step by step. I can whip a 3 " pr and finish it with a 5 turn uni reversed onto itself in under 60 sec. Nothing touches the pr knot except a hollowcore splice and even with that ill serve the end with a nail knot to a pr knot with some 80lb braid. i preach pr knots to everyone but the responces in the comment section are the typical response i get as well. Once u use a pr knot u will never use any other knot for braid to mono. The future is now lol

The PR knot did test out to be stronger, but the difference is very small to how much longer it takes to tie so we don't use it for the typical inshore fishing needs. It's more commonly used for offshore deep droppers where there's a lot of time and money devoted to catch a trophy.

If you want more fishing time, this is the knot you tie. I mean you will never know when you'll fight the fish of a life-time, but with this knots you are always ready. I know how to tie a FG knot, but its only my back up knot. My thing about FG is you're going to ruin your hands tying the perfect FG, if your not getting cut its not the perfect FG. I also hate that way tightening the FG knot which weakens the leader/flouro (mirco-cracks) just to lock in the braid to leader. I just tie PR knots, my setup are heavy braid so my leader 20ish yards or just enough to re-tie by jigs/hooks after a fight for the trip. I caught a 145lb BFT with PR knot 65lbs to 50lbs flouro. I tied my friend 50lbs to 50lbs flouro, landed his 70lbs BFT. PR knot is for big game fishing, but I learned to just double up the braid for lighter setup otherwise I just use FG for lighter setup but again, I hate cutting my hands. I'm so lazy, I only use two half-hitch knots then 5 loop reverse uni-knot to lock it in, hasn't failed me yet....

Royal Polaris knot! Easy and fast. Could have tied 10 RP knots in the time it took to do this sterioded fg knot.

Takes way to long just tie the fg knot. This isn't a knot you can tie at night on the boat! Or if you break off on a school of fish you can just tie quickly. Looks like a strong knot tho

I'm sorry guys I love your channel but you lost me at the 2-minute Mark. I just think this whole knot thing is getting a little crazy. Let's be realistic, if you look at most of the records for fish caught they were caught years ago, I'm talking about when it was still just straight mono all the way or maybe a swivel to a leader. I definitely think it's necessary to learn to tie a couple line to leader knots but it's getting a little overboard now. Of course what do I know to each their own...

Bow string builders use this knot to finish off every serving they tie. After you understand how to tie it its no big deal. Bow strings will wear out before the knot does
