Outstanding video, truly a must watch for any Powerstroke owner! I have a 1999 F350 dually with the late 99 7.3 with 190K miles as my daily driver. I’m getting ready to drop the tank and throw those two little screens away and clean the tank. The only issue I’ve ever had was the injector harness came lose under the driver side valve cover….easy fix and my cam sensor died, so now I keep a spare. Thank you Bill for sharing your knowledge and expertise!

Outstanding, understood. Being instrument/Electrician in old chemical plant, experience is worth millions but unfortunately is taken for granted. Thank you Bill for taking the time and effort to explain the complexities of whats out there in vehicles just in the systems you explained. When I fly I'm always listening, feeling whats going on mechanically (I hate flying). Figure if 99% of stuff is working there's that 1% that may or may not. At 360000 feet its a little unnerving. Thanks again!

Smartest decision we ever made was get rid of our 6.0 diesels. Our repair bills are 1/10th of what they used to be. We used to put 800k km on our old 7.3s with next to no repair bills and the babied 6.0s are absolutely finished at 400k km and 20k in repair bills. EPA has really ruined diesels to the point its not cost efficient enough to run them anymore unless you're pulling really heavy loads and got deep pockets.

Used Ford parts to replace the fittings... but at a 184K I do need to drop the tank and clean the two screens, the part that sucks is the full 128 gal tank in the bed that keeps the factory tank full. She's a Lariet and still in very sweet condition 😎

Being a Powersports Tech I can relate to this video specifically the part of "My machine just did this what should I throw at it?". Alot of people don't understand that launching parts is a lot more expensive then taking the time to sort through and check all possible culprits first, "Fixed right the first time" I believe is the saying we like to use. I see this on a lot of different pages and videos of the million sum odd questions people get asked and even I get overwhelmed by them and its not even my video lol. Keep up the good work Bill and make sure to tell Mike and everyone else in the shop to keep up the good work! not everyone is cut out for this line of work that we do!

Bill, get a Fluke PV350 transducer for checking fuel pressure. Turn on the min/max feature on your Fluke 88 meter, and go drive it. Works great, and no need to run a long fuel hose. PCM's are very reliable, but have seen a couple of 6.0L PCM's with bad analog/digital converters, causing timing issues. Odd problem and threw me for a loop the first time I saw it. Also, don't forget to check/test batteries, especially on a 7.3L. Noisy cells cause a P1670 EF code and a no-start, even with good cranking speed.

BTW, the CA power grid can handle all the power CA needs except for one fact. The State runs CA ISO, the source for power sourcing the grid and they have some idea that once the state reaches about 46 to 50 mega watts of power demand, they issue limits to the many power distributors requiring them to take away power from customers such as turning off air conditioning condensing units, reward points for cutting back useage and of course rolling blackouts. The state does this intentionally and it has nothing to do with supply because in their heads, 48 some mega watts is the cutoff point "to be clean". During COVID19 there were no outages, no rolling blackouts, no restrictions because of the politics involved with folks stuck in their homes. Another concern, during the 2020 year and around the months of April and May, gasoline was priced at 99 cents a gallon due to all people being stuck at home. Makes you wonder why it went no less than that number when the taxes to the state are about that much alone ! Now, gas is $4.89 a gallon yet the refineries aren't producing any different than they were in 2019. It's all manipulated by politicians just like SCR and DEF/DPF is. If it wasn't for all of the changes in fuel additives at the pump, pollution could be much less than with them.
