Thanks for the review and putting in the description for OakCity. They didn’t have those in stock, so I got the Rollerblade Macroblade 80 abt, they were the only place I could find inlines in stock for my size. They shipped right away.

That’s also a pretty good skate! It’s been really hard to find skates during the past 3 months; they’re all sold out because people are skating a lot during the rona’ ;)

Couldn't agree more about skating up hills. It's a serious workout. It's downhills I struggle with.

@@flyingonblades Thanks for replying. Fear, basically! I'm learning to slalom when there's enough width, it's not too steep and there's no traffic. And even learning to compress or extend into the turns to maintain speed control. Narrow hills I just do repeated powerslides, and I can T-stop down a mellow slope. But I can go up a hill in a fraction of the time it takes me to go down one! 🤣

Yeah, for beginners the boot might be a little overly flexible, but I find it perfect. I’m still on the same pair of skates like five years later and they are amazing. I skate them weekly, usually about 10 to 15 miles. Great choice! 😁

Solid deal for $150! I really want to get on some 4x90 skates. I wish I could just buy the RB Maxxum 90 frames. Nice review!

I bought a pair of 2010 rollerblade fusion X7 just for the UFS 4x90mm frames(although it a was a size 6.5 on sale). Maybe if you call rollerblade customer service they might sell it separately. If you find a pair used on eBay it doesn’t matter what size they are so you might be able to get a really big or really small size on the cheap. The frame will be the same because 4 x 90 can only be so small

Sweet addition Mike! The 4-pack of wheels reminds me so much of Skitchin'! They look pretty smooth. So are you going to swap out the wheels then? Or are you sticking with what they came with?

I’ll probably ride them for a month or two and then swap them out with the hydrogen wheels. Can’t wait to go fly around on them :)

Hey man nice video! What website do you recommend to buy skates from? I'm new to this and really wanna start skating again like I did when I was a kid. Any tips or suggestions for buying skates?

J M Hey! I’d suggest shopping from oakcityskate.com if you are on the east coast and rollerwarehouse.com if you are out west. These are both primarily “aggressive” skate retailers that sell skates for doing tricks/stunts. They do have some fitness skate inventory. For an extensive inventory of fitness skates try inlinewarehouse.com

J M also I’d recommend standing with your body weight on a piece of paper and tracing both feet. Measure them in centimeters. This will provide the most accurate sizing which is really important. If you don’t know where to start check out rollerblade brand skates or powerslide. Please wear wrist guards!

Back to Blading mentioned the clear wheels on those and potential lack of durability. Would you agree?

  • @flyingonblades

I assumed the same thing when I first looked at the skates but after about 40 miles of skating the wheels still look brand new. Experiences may vary though based on body weight and climate. I weigh 165Lbs and I’ve been skating them at night on asphalt roads that are cool to the touch. If I were closer to 200lbs and was skating them during a hot summer day in Florida the wheels would be gone pretty quickly.

Awake they are a little wider than average yes. I’ll try to take a measurement. Since it’s a soft boot skate there is a little more room because the fabric can stretch. What should Zoe do you generally wear?

I have these skates and really like the fit and comfort, don’t buy too large a size should fit perfect at shop. I did find the factory wheels/bearings to be a bit slow, swapped both out and it made a world I’d difference to the speed (not exaggerating). Did a 20km skate this morning and no hot spots in the feet or bruises. No need to tie the laces up tight, similar to relaxed lacing on running shoes will work , nice video!

For fitness/speed skating I’d recommend probably 85a. The Rollerblade brand hydrogen wheels are my favorite and fastest wheels in my opinion. I’ve swapped a set of them onto my powerslide skates since I filmed this video. For the record I’m not sponsored by any company 😁

dude you should not ride in the road like this, you will get hit by cars, stay safe and put a helmet on.

  • @flyingonblades

Thanks for the advice! I definitely wear a helmet while doing skate stunts at the park but at this point in my life I don’t feel the need to wear a helmet while fitness skating. If I get hit by a car I’ll be more concerned with spine/hip/arm/leg injuries… if the car runs over me completely any of the in-line skate helmets on the market will not withstand the weight of a tire running over my head unfortunately. I have worn a helmet in competition while speed skating though but mainly because it was required.

@@flyingonblades Ok man stay safe out there, those car drivers are texting and driving and not paying attention, if possible maybe find a less busy area to skate like a parking lot,. that is my suggestion to keep you safe from a car hit by a distracted driver. There are so many idiots driving today. I was hit by a car myself when I was bicycling. The guy was not even paying attention!
