PowerLand Review & Overview | Finland's Weirdest Amusement Park

PowerLand in Kauhava, Finland is arguably the country's weirdest amusement park. Between the two Gerstlauer Infinity coasters and odd non-coasters, PowerLand has an interesting ride lineup. The park is less than 2 decades old, but it's rapidly growing and it's part of the massive PowerPark resort. Find out why this park should be on your radar in this review!

Europe's first GCI, 2 Gerstlauer Infinity coasters right next to each other with the same color skyme, an actually good boomerang, a Moser drop tower. Quite a strange lineup but also not bad.

I think the most interesting thing about the "Kwai River" water flume is the "prop bridge" which appears to be an homage to the 1958 film "The Bridge on the River Kwai". That's cool.

Went there for two days this summer. I actually enjoyed pitts special alot. It had some pretty good airtime throughout. Might have been running slow when you went there. It also barely ever had more then a 15 minute line.

Kiitos! I enjoyed your review of this park. I was planning a European trip for this summer, but I switched to a domestic trip when the Covid red tape presented too many uncertainties. Did you find many pandemic-related obstacles on your trip?

@@CanobieCoaster I’m very glad to hear that was the only difference! Where did you fly into and out of, if I may ask? When I was researching, that seemed to be crucial in terms of what barriers one would face, and then crossing from country to country was also a very uncertain process. But I was researching before the summer started. Maybe things got easier for you by the time you went?

I have ridden Pegasus at the various traveling fairs in Switzerland. Their version of the ride is more modern with vest restraints and it runs crazy fast, sometimes pulling too many forces on the body! I would like to see a POV of the one here to compare the ride cycle.

Pegasus looks completely insane with its turns, flips, positive Gs as it swings at its max. speed and negative Gs when it completely inverts. Booster is usually an up-charge ride, and I've learned that to ride The Revelation"; a ride virtually identical to " Booster" at Playland in Vancouver which I've decided to only ride during (and nothing but) the PNE fair, since the PNE fair requires much more $ for a ride pass that doesn't even include "The Revelation" which is also an up-charge ride during any hours of operation Playland has that the Playland season pass holders also cannot ride without paying extra $. "Revelation" (the name we give a similar if not identical ride to Booster) isn't worth me riding it since I'm trying to lower my tolerance for extreme thrill rides (I was actually at the PNE fair 2-3 days ago but skipped "The Revelation" so as not to spoil my 1st trip to Canada Wonderland next week) Also: I never bought a season pass for Playland this (or last) year since "Coaster" (Canada's oldest and best wooden coaster at Playland in Vancouver); one of Canada's 4 best coasters operating today as well as Mindbender, Behemoth and Leviathan) hasn't operated all season due to not being able to bring on site any of the rare and few people who maintain "Coaster" due to Covid and/or its restrictions. HOWEVER: I am planning on my very 1st visit to Canada Wonderland next week, where I'll finally be able get on an airplane (and fly anywhere for the 1st time since November 2019) to ride Behemoth and Leviathan. I wonder how Leviathan will compare to Millennium Force and how Behemoth will compare to Steel Vengeance; when I find out I'll let you know. Thanks for posting!

@@CanobieCoaster I intend to. I'd initially planned to go to Six Flags Great Adventure but El Toro is down. Still, I've never been on any B&M hyper, including any B&M hyper that's giga sized, and now I'll be able to ride both Leviathan and Behemoth. I think I'll prefer Behemoth due to its longer duration and more copious amount of airtime, but I won't know for sure until I ride it. I'll finally break 100 coaster credits!

I visited this summer and in my opinion the park is kinda weird. Some of the rides have good theming, but then there are flat rides that look really cheap. I quess they will remove some of the cheaper travelling flat rides in the future as the park is growing.

this being my homepark i can almost be sure they will not. the park has only recently gained some popularity and had no notable rides besides Thunderbird until 2015 when Junker was first opened. And I don't think it will grow much, as finland has 2 other parks that draw 3x the guests this park does, and it's also in the middle of nowhere. If it wasn't for Junker, I don't think anybody outside finland would know about this park
