Thanks for another amazing review Vern! Keep up the good work. I’ve had these Powerblocks Exp up to stage 3 for sometime now & couldn’t be happier with my investment. I train with them 4x a week and I must say they are as durable as they come. If anyone is debating on getting them, just do it. You’ll get use to the toaster movement in one workout. One note I’ll say, these sports are better than the other model elites, especially if you have bigger hands. More open room for your wrists & knuckles. Glad Powerblocks improved in their designs. When I had the elites it was just an inconvenience with the little space I had to work with. My wrists would lean against the inner tubes my arm would go numb at times. Ended up selling those & getting these sports due to the open space design

I’ve had my powerblocks for 9 years now. No issues with the prongs, etc. use them 3days per week minimum. I also like turning them upside down and grabbing the two bars for pullovers, etc. I have the 5-70 USA made ones.

For the older model I had, you could grab the bottom 2 cylinders like handles and it was actually better than your typical dumbbell for the French press - that metal piece between the bottom cylinders was not there. The old model I had also had a single metal selector rod - I found that easier to use too.

@@UsawaFitness I sold them a while back when I got into a condo that had a gym. Recently, I got Nuobell clones from a small company in the area - overall they are more functional than the powerblocks but I could definitely see the fake Noubells breaking over time whereas the powerblocks are much more durable.

Been using my set EXP’s for about a month now. I do like them but they are a little challenging to hold correctly when doing 40lb goblet squats. They can be bulky. Otherwise they are good for overall full body dumbbell routines. Edit: I also agree with your opinion of the plastic adjuster. They are flimsy and it can be a little time consuming when moving between weight settings when working through a routine.

These are great, I mean I like having unique looking equipment in my gym bc it makes people who don’t know about gym equipment curious about them. However, I passed up on the block and went with a traditional adjustable dumbbell bc I didn’t like that it took longer to change weights. When I’m working out, I have a routine and rhythm going. The extra time changing the weights was a bit weird for me. Also, another KZreadr was saying that some movements may feel different and awkward compared to what you’re use to. But these look great. If it works out for you, I’m jealous bc I wanted it to work out for me but it’s not for me 😅

Classic example of you win some and lose some when it comes to adjustable dumbbells. The older PowerBlock models like the Elites has the padded wrists support bars that will enable you to grip the weight bar handles and pass off the dumbbells to your client to do the exercise easily.

Mine just fell apart. Granted I've had them for at least 10 years but the plates are dropping and are brittle and snapping off. For no reason, never abused, never left my house, always kept on the stand. Very disappointing and dangerous. seems the horizontal metal that holds the left to right side plates is all plastic where it screws into the plates. And I guess it just gets more and more brittle over the years and just snaps at some point. I see power block have the thinner all metal plates on one of their products and I guess that is all metal where the connection occurs, I'd only consider that design, the metal to urethane is a disaster waiting to happen. Upshot...don't get powerblocks. My next purchase will be Ironmasters and now I'm completely not trusting any of the gimmicky stuff, even snode or peppin. Unless I can see exactly how it works and is truly all metal I'm not messing with it. speed and convenience on something that can break over your head and that you would have to pay for twice is just not worth it. A google search shows I'm not the only one this happened to. Powerblock should do a recall.
