Considering the joycons lack a decent dpad it'd be nice to hear thoughts on the dpads on these controllers. Whether they're responsive and good or wonky and crap like the 360 pad. I take it there's no vibration either? A lot of details missed out that would have been nice to have in this review.

PowerA makes some damn good Controllers! Wii U mini Pro was fantastic and I have big hands

My brother got me this for my birthday, I love this controller.

Tried this on Fedora Linux 39 and this tutorial still works even 6 years later. Very Impressive

Tbh I have huge hands and the only thing I don’t like is the single joy com sideways. the joycons in the grip feels fine. Still, these pro options are really tempting...

I must get my hands on one of those. Thanks for the good info. I haven't bought a pro controller because I don't like black. I'm a fan of color. Which is why I bought the switch with the red and blue joycons.

I think it's best to save for the pro controller . 🙈 IT'S SO GOOD TO GAME WITH. But these do LOOK spicy💗

i get this controller and its pretty neat but the left stick isnt working is there any way to fix it?

I definitely recommend PowerA controllers. They look good, feel good and the wire is really long so you don’t really have to worry about where to play it. Also for people saying that it doesn’t have motion controls, you don’t really need them. It’s really only crucial to Odyssey and Splatoon 2. And for the NFC reader it doesn’t have, just have the right joycon with you if you’re using amiibos and use that! Also, you know how the Switch comes with a joycon-grip? Yeah. I got the PowerA controller also because the joycon-grip has a use! Sure, it could be used for multiplayer, but what if you have barely any local friends (Like me...)? If you have barely any friends that play with you locally and you had the wireless controller, you would just throw that grip in the trash! WHY?! So I’d say get the PowerA one. It’s cheap and great. [EDIT] would you rather lose $40(AUS) or $90(AUS)

Seems like i'd be a decent "player two" controller, but so far, i think Nintendo has done a pretty good job making motion control part of the overall control scheme, without making it the dominating one. I've gotten use to it in BotW and not sure i really want to play without it. Mario i can kinda take it or leave it. It doesnt feel intrusive. If i ever need one for a 2nd controller, i may get one. We'll see.

I actually love using this more than my pro controller because of the Dpad. 2d games feel very good (better than the pro imo). But I do wish the pro had the same because of wireless and that kickass battery life.

So , I found a couple of PowerA controllers with no charging cable. What cables can I use instead ?

Awesome I've been waiting for a cost effective alternative to the Switch controller this fits my budget and still looks sweet...I'm leaning towards Mario version ...plus I don't mind being plugged in to dock mode...matter of fact I'm on my way to GameStop to pick up as I write this...CHEERS!!!

other than splatoon or shooters with motion control coming to the switch (or really any motion aiming) i think i would really like to have this. Especially for something like street fighter 2 or Neo Geo fighting games since i can't afford a fight stick for my switch and am too lazy to make my own.

thinking of getting my daughter a switch but controllers are expensive, is the motion control really needed can i just buy a power a controller or do you need the joycons for every game

Wires break easily, better to replace a cable for £1 than the entire controller for £30, but then you could also argue that it's more likely to break now it's removable.

The wire comes off so that can swing the controller like a bolo or lasso, and the wire then releases the controller so that it can sail across the air like a missle, bashing your prey over the head, instantly killing or knocking them unconscious. HUZZAH YOU WIN!!!!!

are the triggers clicky like the joy-cons?

Does this control actually avoid the characters from moving on its own. I have that issue with the joy cons

They do look beautiful, but I rely on the motion controls way too much in Splatoon 2 and even in Zelda for simple things like accuracy adjustment when shooting. Shame, as that Zelda one looks lush!

you can buy a USB C to Micro USB to have it work on the switch in table top mode. BUT: you need a stand for the switch which was a must have in the first place because the kickstand isn't the best.

I bought a Zelda BOTW style Wired Pro Controller a year and a half ago, and just recently, it stopped working. My Switch won’t read it at all. Is there a way to fix this?

I wish that brand could do some new joy cons with the analog sticks in the right spot.

I'd buy that Zelda one just to collect it, thats how sick it looks. The Mario one is great too. I'd also by a pro controller because I want to be able to play with it while in tabletop mode if I decide to to use it in handheld mode.

There is also a little dimple in the center of the charger port that prevents you from using another type of charger. Failed to mention that detail guys. SO if the SPECIFIC WIRE shorts out then you're SOL and have to buy another controller all together.

Have you tried the d-pad with street fighter?? I'm always wanting a controller with a great d-pad. I'd rather use that than an analog stick.

Those designs are like a million times better then anything available for the pro controller.

Can someone please help me. I bought 2 of these controllers for my Switch and neither one is working. I tried plugging in the cord into all 3 USB slots and none of them are working. None of the buttons work on the controller. Am I doing something wrong? I can't believe both controllers are broken on arrival. I also tried plugging something else into the USB port and it worked just fine so it's not the dock.

It's a bummer they don't have a wireless option! I liked my Power A controllers for Wii U

Probably lacks the NFC reader too.

The joysticks 1 of the 2 I bought are broken they just stopped working right the left one moves on its own and the second one just stopped working entirely

Aren't there certain shrines that require motion controls? If so it would seem odd to have a Zelda themed pro controller if you can't play the entire game with it.

I WOULD buy them, but the no motion controls is a turn off for me, personally. I absolutely love Splatoon 2 and I use motion controls. I would love to get them for Mario Kart and Zelda, etc but it wouldn't be worth the extra $30 if I were to already own a pro controller. Just my thoughts, thanks for the review!

I can’t confirm this with fact, but I believe if you purchase a usb c adapter for the controllers usb cable, it works when the switch is not docked.
