I used solar pump/filter for my mini pond, with my white cloud minnows, but added a battery pack to keep it going for a bit when the sun goes down. Nice set up!

@@HaYNFishKeeper you can do basically what you did with that pot except have holes in the bottom and some filter media in it so the water gets drawn up through it and back into the pond or you can rig up the pump outside the container to pump into the top and run little bog filters with them. Most of the water pumps only run during the day which isn't my favorite thing but the better air pumps will run 24/7 even after several cloudy days. The fountains and filters rest at night and the air keeps going. So far it's been enough and I haven't run into any problems.

You could do some really cool stuff with this. If you REALLY wanted to, you can drill a few holes on the bottom sides of that bowl, to have water consistently coming into it in the center of the pond, put that pump in the bottom, turn that badboy up to 4 feet, maybe put some water plants coming out the pot as well like a water ivy or something and have a nice little center piece to a pond.

I have a smaller one I have it running to make a filter. Use a better filter if you have scuds. They'll get stuck in the holes.

Back in the day we made our own battery packs (like rc) and rigged them to solar sidewalk lights. Now so many battery backedup solar pump systems. I have been using a 2.1w solar pump (battery less) that the Medaka have no problem swimming against.

300 gal per hour flow rate? Not on God's Earth is it even close to that. Why do solar pump manufacturers think they can just make this stuff up. Almost all of them seem to do it. 300gph is almost 1400 litres per hour. Its looks like a decentish pump but why do they make it so difficult to choose the right solar pump with all their made of specs. Useful video though to help me exclude this pump though thanks. I only need about 600lph for my project and this clearly cant do it (even though the manufacturer is claiming more than double that!)
