Your customer should of had the lawn trimmed and cleaned before you showed up. Geez I didn't know you did lawns too. Plus the plumbing work of cleaning out the drain. You are a man with many hats my friend.

One tool that may help when digging weed out of the cracks like that is a hoof pick (for horses). They work really well

I agree, pressure washing is one thing, junk and weed removal is totally different. Hopefully the home owner was charged extra.

I'd move all the crap for £50hr. I have walked from jet washing jobs though cant be arsed to shift the crap people want you to move. I'm a gardener and do a little jet washing on quite days. No where near as professionally set up as this outfit but gets the job done.

Seeing you cutting back the ivy reminded me of when my sister & her family moved last year - their new house had been empty for about a year, and the paths were just hidden under all the shrubs and weeds. My son had had the day off to help them move & as he had the next day off too, went round while they were at work and cut back so much stuff to reveal the paths and patio. It took them 3 wheely bin empties to get rid of it all! And the garden looked twice as big. I wondered if the non functioning drain had led to a soakaway instead of the sewerage system. My parents had one on the patio of their old house which would block with heavy rain as the soakaway just couldn't cope with the volume. Have a good holiday, you deserve it!

You can see it will be a nice living space for the owner, once cleaned. That is a kindness to work hard to make that happen. A nice use for hand-held hedge trimmers, on the ivy...don't think I would have thought of using it to clean out a clogged drain...:) The cleaning you wrestled through was enough to start showing the "hope" factor. How much experience you've gained really showed. You worked through each problem and found workable solutions. They do indeed have a usable patio and walkway. Happy Father's Day Sid. Digging with the shears elicited a cry of despair from me. There are post-hole shovels that are about 4in/10cm wide that are excellent for digging in narrow spots. Here's hoping that when the homeowner replaces the cracked concrete that they take the opportunity to put in a new drainage system that connects all of those gutters and diverts all that water away from the foundation.

Your customers should have a little more respect by cleaning their yards of garbage before a job instead of expecting you to do it! So proud of you!

You may not be super-enthusiastic, but we don't mind. It's your attention to detail, such as rinsing the brickwork, windows and whatever else has been hit by the backwash. And weeding by hand. Cleaning the road, too!

It's been about a year since I stumbled upon this channel, and I only remember because I was working nights and somehow history keeps repeating itself lol. A curved Blade linoleum cutter works well on roots and cement cracks, or even the tool marketed in the US as "15 in 1".

Congratulations. I can't believe customers who don't prepare a site prior to you coming. Hope you charge for all the extra work required. Couldn't they tell you about the drain situation at least!

The missing drain under the downspout could be filled with a 2 inch landscape rock to create a bit of a dry well, it would help reduce excess runoff pooling there as badly. Have a good time with the family at Disneyland!

You should look into getting a heavy duty whipper snipper with a wire brush head on it for these weedy small jobs. They work like magic and ideal as are handheld so you can keep them correctly positioned as you move.
