@@mikemoorer7990 Fair enough. You would then RESPECT my father who was my teacher. If you live in Germany using your Smartphone and write in English it can happen that parts of the message are corrected automatically. So respect can end up into German respekt. Which was overlooked by me. But it looks like you didn't have a problem understanding what the intention was. What is really fun is when the system automatically changes the above MESSAGE into MASSAGE. Reading that might have provoked you into having an erection. Anyway, should you find any other mistakes, you might keep them.
This is really well honed skill. My hat's off to the driver. People like him are truly "the salt of the earth". A few decades before now, Jamaica, being an old British colony, was commuted by Leyland buses with 2 ft diameter manual steering ( I imagine in Bangalore too). I remember as a child watching sweat drenched, shirtless drivers on similar rural island routes, literally hauling and pulling at the wheel; sometimes even standing to keep buses on roads. You could see the strain and pain on the body and the psyche (most drank). Old air brakes were sketchy, so the driver had to announce his proximity by yanking an air horn lever to create a sort of melody.....
@mja2239

The same in Kerala, India. The state govt bus drivers have been driving Ashok Leyland manual buses through similar hair pin bends in aryankavu, thamarassery etc. Power steering is such a blessing. Here, it isn't broken else he won't be able to turn the wheel this easily.

I like how you used "salt of the earth" for compliment. It was one of the best compliments I wish to receive myself. Salt in history, was once quite a valuable substance. It was even used for currency. Salt is for preserving food and seasoning. Without salt, no meat would last and food would be bland. Being called "salt of the earth" means that you're only so valuable that you add flavor to the world, and you help preserve whatever good humanity can offer. Truly well deserved for the bus driver❤

My uncle used to to drive trucks in the Northeast Region in the 70s -90s and he said it was very difficult to drive in curve roads especially if it was fully loaded. His handy man used to help with the steering in tight corner due to it being being very hard to turn
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the power steering. Volvo has revolutionized steering with what they call Dynamic Steering and it is absolutely fenomenal. But well done, driver.
@TheBlaert

@@TheBlaert [Disclaimer: I'm not a truck driver; the following information was gathered from the Internet, including Volvo's homepage itself. I am not making any claims as to how well this system works.] Dynamic Steering is mostly assistance in holding a constant steering angle (most notably "none" = straight line) when you don't change the input on the steering wheel. It's basically an autonomous compensation for deviations from the driver input, which may happen through forces such as wind, road tilt, bumps, different surfaces or uneven breaking forces. Example: if you are going straight on a road, and a gust hits you from the side, you'd normally have to compensate for the wind force trying to push you off-course. With Volvo Dynamic Steering, the software notices the change in direction despite you not having turned the steering wheel, so it assumes this is an unwanted change and automatically compensates. The necessary corrections are calculated and applied 2000 times per second. It basically means you only have to touch the steering wheel when you actually want to change the direction. Another feature is automatic return to "straight" when backing up, and a third is variable supplementary force depending on the detected situation (probably speed, surface friction, carried load and turning speed related, to make them all feel the same despite the forces to actually turn the wheels being different). What you described also exists, but it's usually described as a dynamic variable steering ratio or dynamic steering response (DSR), where the ratio of steering wheel to wheel turn varies depending on speed.

@@harshivpatel6238 That has nothing to do with power steering... He makes 4-5 rotations because his tires are very big and his steering wheel is very small. @Dutch3DMaster

Exactly. Drove a little van from work without it (old thing from the mid 90's) and was really dragging the wheel around in the tighter corners. If this bus would be without power steering, the driver would be heavily pushing and pulling the wheel and be sweating from trying to get it to go into the direction he wants to, not turn it with one hand. If you've ever experienced a car without power steering, you can get a sense of just how hard that can already be, let alone a truck or bus... Needless to say: big thumbs up to the driver. What I was seeing was common hairpin situations for vehicles that, in theory are just to large to take them without invading the other lane without prior warning.

Seems like first 2-3 bends, the driver didn’t cut perfectly, should cut bit earlier that’s why he had to back the bus to turn the bend. this is karnataka ksrtc, best buses in india
while yes, the driver did keep his cool, and the volvo did its job, a lot of people dont realize how tight buses actually turn compared to other vehicles. the bus driver struggles with turning the steering wheel while the vehicle is stationary. you can see the vehicle has power steering because he is turning with his palm, and if you've ever drove without power steering in anything bigger than a little coupe, especially in a manual, you'd know he DEFINATELY has power steering. i dont know. it just bothers me when drivers dont do the smart thing when they make a mistake, and have to stop the vehicle, don't begin to move until you're nearly "lock to lock" on the steering column. please. it's important to memorize how your vehicle's angle will turn from start at lock left and lock right. never stop learning your vehicles, drivers.
very beautiful scenery, but also tense. I can not imagine if I was sitting behind the driver's seat.😅
