I can't believe they put a $20 price tag and give us less of a figure that we already have

Why the art on the back of the box just "taunts" us with the figure having more but doesn't have in real. It's specially painful in the case of white Dino ranger and goldar😭😭

Yeah, even as a kid, I always wondered why the pictures on the box and prototypes look better than the actual figures.

My favorite villain... was the green ranger. He handed the rangers ass to them on a silver platter.

My favorite villain from the MMPR era is Lord Zedd, but, as far as monster-of-the-day, I really love Terror Toad and Pudgy Pig.

Sucks being a completionist....Thankfully I'm not so I'm skipping this.

Rito the brother of Rita should be the next villain, I would Ivan Ooze he's my true favorite from mmpr.

Part of the problem with the "listening to fans" is that you wonder why they didn't do it begin with? It's one thing if they modified the body but here is the same thing. The clipped wings are what expands out into the full wings. It's just they didn't use all the winged footage from the sentai. It's a nice little retcon in season 2 but I really don't think Hasbro was trying to make a season 1/2 Goldar. The promo art on the back of the box are all renders on the back of the box. They aren't real figures but those models are generally what's used in production. So it's why we get inaccuracies in color and app placement. Right now I'd tell people to go buy the Gamestop version first and foremost. A darker stain and better sword really isn't enough to offset the wings/extra hands. Grab some umber paint and make a wash and you can get an equal or better look. It's not a bad figure but it's the same figure. I don't want to see Goldar again unless it's the movie version or his second form. No double pack figures with Rito or Scorpina. Goldar is done unless they add in 10 more points of articulation and better wings.

Hi! I just get mine today at my local Walgreens in Puerto Rico, because i couldn't get the gamestop exclusive! I liked both, but the 2nd release looks cooler even without the wings, i think! Great review as always👍

Favorite MMPR villain would by far be King Sphinx. My question is, why was he so heavily marketed as much (if not more than Goldar) when he has such a small role in the grand scheme of things?

Wow. Wish I could have found a Goldar for $5. My local GameStop (I only have the one) only got two Goldar's in and they never restocked. Nice steal, man! Thanks for the old/new comparisons.

My Gamestop had a bunch of them, and they set on the shelf for months. I think they finally got rid of them.

Goldar was my favorite villain Thanks for taking the hit and comparing the two releases. I’m canceling my preorder and waiting for it to show up at Ross in year lol

All this is gonna so is bring out those people who swap parts and return them. Targets will have this hanging with the old sword before long and that’s another reason this is a bad move. Cause the only improvement is the sword!

My favourite villain is Scorpina. Not much given to her on the show but seeing her in the comics was just badass. Would LOVE to get a figure of her some day!

Thanks for your reviews MCU collector, I figured Hasbro re-released figures to improve quality and for collectors that weren't able to get these store exclusives. Either way I'm collecting all of the releases, I hope they do single carded Alpha 5

Hasbro need to have a 2-pack of Squatt and Baboo, or a 3 pack and just add Finster lol... those 3 for some reason are my favorite. Shoot, Bulk and Skull needs to be made as well!

@@pensacolian211 we can only hope lol... I'd get those in a heartbeat, especially with the real face printing tech Hasbro got going, these figures would look great! AND they need to re-do Amy Jo's face again.. they did her wrong! lol

I was honestly glad they did Goldar again cause it saves me 20 dollars having him already. If he ever goes on clearance I will pick up the second one.

I like the Rapping Pumpkin. Hopefully they make a figure of him and a Putty with a pumpkin for a head just like the episode.

Honestly, I do wish that this Lightning Collection Goldar 2.0 SHOULD have been released in the first place, with much better paint-apps, and more accessories with both folded wings and open wings. Perhaps in the near future whereas he will be a figure set with Scorpina, potentially though.

As you could probably tell from our IG convos; my favorite villain would be king sphinx; mostly because he looked so great teamed up with goldar!

My favorite villain is the green power ranger it was so awesome to see an evil power ranger.

I prefer the original release with fully articulated wings. I also think the sword energy effect on the original looks better. Some Citadel wash paint could add detail. Only the longer better painted sword on the new one is an improvement. They could've improved the paint apps given him the wing stubbs and the full wings.

Definitely Scorpina was my favorite villain.

My fav MMPR villain was Scorpina. It's a good thing I waited on the regular release Goldar.

I like the the S1 vs S2 idea, thats EXACTLY what it is.

in a short one and a half year (probably less than that since I received my first lightning collection fig last year April/may), they have re-released in one way or another: 1) goldar, 2) putty, 3) lord zedd, 4) Psycho ranger blue, & 5) Psycho ranger red. what an achievement unlocked!

when i first saw the goldar exclusive from gamestop, i was like omg that figure is so sick, but when i saw it on live was like meh... i got mine on sale for aprox 6.90 dlls its 150 MXN pesos, and i did a custom that i share on a toy group on face and all the people there was telling me that this is really how goldar should looks, not that crappy version of hasbro! anyway awesome review and i think i'll wait for other sale again to get it just for the sword jaja

Did pre order this as couldn't get the OG, live in the UK so none of the wave 6 have dropped yet, have had to rely on amazon ebay And other UK based websites for my collection up to 10 so far.

It may not be neccessary, but I am super excited for this new version for the retracted wings and show accurate sword. I do wish Hasbro had darkened the blue on his face though since the color in Zyuranger was more blueberry. As for my favorite villain, I'm going to guess you mean main villain, so naturally, it was Goldar. :-) Now if I went based on the Sentai versions, it would be Rito's Japanese counterpart Junior. Okay, that's more information than you wanted, but I had fun posting that bit of pointless nonsense.

I know it’s not big enough too change anything but, supporting buying this let’s Hasbro keep doing the same stuff w/small differences when we need new characters. At the least wait awhile. Seems pretty recent we were going bonkers for the GameStop release. I’ll be glad when we get a single-packed Rita bc I’m not paying $50 for Rita and another Zedd either.

Lord Zedd was my fave. Props to him for staying married to the annoying voice of Rita Repulsa. He prepared me for life as a kid lol

My favorite evil villain season one ..... SCORPINA !!!! She was and still is the coolest bad guy/ female . She’s sexy but deadly ! And her true form is one sick looking scorpion human monster hybrid ! Love her look as a human and love the scary monster version with her long tail weapon ! Man what an awesome character she was ! Really really hope Hasbro makes her !

Too late now, but my favorite villain was Eye Guy. Such a cool and creepy design.

My favourite villain is Lord Zedd. I've always liked ruler characters, and his design is pretty hardcore compared to most Power Rangers villains.

I have both versions and by far is my favoirte out of Lightning Collection him and Lord Zedd

I literally just got back into collecting always been a big PR fan but any advice to help me get the harder figures out of the waves such as any apps or forums to know what is releasing where

At this point ebay may be your best option. Search power rangers groups on Facebook and you may get lucky in some of those.

My MMPR favorite villain is Zedd hands down coolest PR villain design.

Well I don't have to worry about getting this Goldar figure because I already have the GameStop Exclusive Goldar. Comparing the two Goldar figures, I think that the GameStop Exclusive Goldar is the best. There weren't too many things different when compared to the other one, but only a different sword, the retracted wings, energy effect and a slightly different paint job. If I see this Goldar on sale for only $5 then I might get him? Oh! And MCUcollector, I don't think that you talk too much during the reviews. I actually quite enjoy it... And also my favorite Mighty Morphin Power Rangers villain is Scorpina.

Wow, Lighting has was too many characters under their IP to have a rerelease THIS soon. The GameStop Goldar wasn't flying off shelves so I don't get it

I bet if someone does prefer the new on, but like the wings, they could port the Gamestop exclusive wings in the slots for those fake wings. i think I'll be sticking with my Gamestop one. Maybe pick one up to customize. But probably not.

Can the wing/stubs be used interchangeably between the two goldars? Can the Gamestop original use the stubs? Can the wave 6 plug in the wings?

This seems like a case of “oh we still got some extra goldars in the back ??? Yeah let’s make him a regular release cut his wings off instead of a whole new figure.” CASH GRAB😒😒😒 I’m still gonna get the exclusive since it’s not that hard to find.

Haha they’re just rereleasing as a cash grab. . . “We listen to the fans, here have a mustard yellow goldar”

I just want more bad guys for my collection, and I get how unrealistic and unlikely that is to ever happen, but I still want it just the same. Scorpina is a must have. There are so many cool monsters from MMPR though, they sold a few of them back in the day, I have no idea whether or not they sold well as I personally never got any, but I'd like to see them attempt it again. I'd also really like figures of Finster, Squat and Baboo. I know they didn't really do much. Finster made the monsters, and Squat and Baboo on rare occasions got involved in small ways, but they were still always there in the beginning, and as such I'd like to have figures of them. In a perfect world I'd want every monster and villain who ever appeared in MMPR to get a figure, but alas this world is anything but perfect, and I consider myself lucky that they've released the villains that they have. It's better than nothing.

It’s funny how the exclusive is the lesser version of the two except for the wings. It’s minimal improvements should have been at a minimal price since the exclusive version went to clearance but anyway my favorite villain has to be Lord Zedd. I remember when he first came on the scene he was bad ass but then he eventually turned into a joke.

I think Mighty Morphin had tons of great and dorky villains. Of the core villains cast I would say Zedd is my favorite because I always thought he was actually kind of scary. Of the monster of the week type villains I would have to go for Pudgy Pig.

Are the goldar heads removable?

What really really bothers me is that I preordered the gamestop exclusive, cuz I thought it will be gone as fast as it came out... and when I went to my local gamestop, the cashier told me "Oh it seems like it's sold out, but you can order it from the warehouse and pay 8 dlls for shipping to the store" and I say, well I want it and I don't want to miss this figure.. so I ended paying 35 dlls total for my Goldar.... Imagine me next week of picking up my Goldar, seen that every gamestop I went was full of goldars and imagine my face when I saw the gamestop flash sale . And now imagine my face when now!!! we have a "new" one in this wave .... oooh God give patience pls..

Original release with the wings seems better IMO. Yes, the newer version sword is a big improvement, but that's it really - and without the wings, Goldar just feels less complete IMO. He had the wings throughout S2, S3, and the second half of Zeo after he got his memories back. That's alot more screen-time, making his winged-version a better representative if you were just going to get a single figure. Ideally, you'd want the original figure and to just buy the new one for the sword. That's it. Kinda a waste unless you have money to blow though.

yeah I only skipped goldar cause I got the gamestop one. to be honest he was missing his wings this is first season goldar.

I think the Gamestop Goldar is an upgrade intentionally. Shiny Gamestop Goldar with wings, Dirty Solo Release Goldar without. I’d switch the swords and effects and there’s your Season 1 and 2 Goldar!

I had every intention of getting this figure when it was announced. About a week ago I came across it in store, and did an immediate out loud WTF? I couldn't see any difference in this as opposed to the Gamestop one I already had other than the sword which was easily noticeable. Aside from the alleged improvements that were promised I wanted this one because the wings on the Gamestop one are so floppy that they're unusable, but I don't think the better sword and back plug things are enough for me to justify another $20 purchase.
