Somebody good at weathering and detailing could make this kit a real work of art. It needs that industrial grungy look.

I'm halfway through building/painting mine. I researched details like Ripleys Seiko watch and her Reebok boots to get everything as accurate possible, even adding sweatstains and Hicks' blood on her skin. Couple of things to mention; the footpads where Ripley stands can be attached at one of three heights, allowing her to keep her feet in the right place in some more extreme poses. And there is a couple of components with hollow areas (inner part of the rollcage and ankle pistons) that modellers might want to fill in with putty. I'm finding the hoses to be a real bitch to attach. I'm gonna have to glue them on so they don't pop loose.

The hollow tubes were a baffling choice in a model kit of this quality and cost. My only other complaint I can see from this video is the metal grating over Ripley's head. It's a sin that it wasn't done in photoetched brass.

@@RedHeadKevin I had the Halcyon kit, and the Photo Etched parts were the best inclusion.

The 2 moderoids I was surprised by were this and the Ed 209. I hope the do more live action movie kits. Maybe a terminator endoskeleton or something

I like it but my skills at painting is really crappy now compared to 10-15 years ago. Was tempted on getting it but since it would take me forever to finish it I'll skip it. Thanks for the detailed review though, you saved me a lot.

This is gonna looks great painted. Can't wait to see the finished project

I would get some telescoping rods and replace those foot pistons so they are functional. I wonder if they are going to make a queen alien kit?

What a beeg boi. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised GSC would scale it with their figure line - they did the same with the Moderoid ED-209 - but still. Phew. EDIT: Oh, seems I'm mistaken. The kit includes a 1/12 Ripley model as well? Even more impressive.

Looks like a great step up from the old static pose kit from Halcyon and later reissued from Tsukuda hobby. I'd love to get it but it's hard to surpass the 1/8 resin one i have from forbidden zone.

There will be a WIP video soon I think! Can do a size comparison. Edit- also, the main reason I usually show a size comparison is for kitbash reference. I figured this probably wouldn’t be something someone’s gonna kitbash with a Gundam kit, but who knows hey!

I saw the box said 1/12 scale, can the loader fit megami device, 30MS, or figma?

I've seen someone squeeze the NECA 7" inch scale Ripley figure into it but I don't know if the loader was modified in any way first.

Ripley is quite big compared to a Megami Device. You know have no trouble fitting one of them, or a Frame Arms Girl (typically considered roughly 1/10)

@@Izzy8u I saw it in person, it didn't look great so I don't think it would be worth buying the kit just to use with a NECA. I was just trying to give an idea of the size.

Thanks for the review, I was going to buy this set until you showed how truly lackluster this release is, it’s about $100 bucks and you’re not getting a helluva lot. I can’t be the only one that’s irked by Ripley’s body runners being grey and not flesh tone. Shame because we don’t get any Ripley figures, tons of xenomorphs though.

What’s the size of Ellen ripley?

Coming! I’ve been very busy lately with real life stuff

The details about this design are amazing. James Cameron spent sleepless nights working on this original design. During the production of aliens. One of the most outstanding movies ever produced. I had to daringly climb over a parking lot fence, that was more than twelve feet high. That stood ominously over a steep incline of about fifteen feet. To get to the doors of the theater the night the movie premiered. Beating out other worthless scum, rapscalion, dregs of society , bums , ticket scalpers. Possibly looters, trying to make their way into the the theater. Or trying to get into the more than three block line that was outside. I dropped a large coke I was trying to smuggle into the movie house, trying to avoid the exorbitant, 27.99 for a medium drink of the same scale. And luckily I only got a few ounces of the the , at that moment. Precious substance. And thoroughly enjoyed one of the most fantastic movies I had ever experienced. Now that I have seen the film more than fifteen thousand times, I can assure you that the event was well worth it. Remembering I was the only one in the theater that seemed to recognize Mike bean was the hero in charge.👍
