POWER in a 1952 Ford 8N Tractor Like You have NEVER Seen Before!

The Ford 8N was one of the most popular tractors on American farms - but Jimmy Deakins of Tennessee has outfitted his 1952 8N in a way that was NEVER done before! The 8N was built from 1947 to 1952, and back in the day, you could boost the power of your 8N tractor to over 100 HP with a Funk Conversion. Jimmy took his power boost a step further by dropping in a flat-head 8-Cylinder Cadillac engine. For sure, Jimmy Deakins puts his own spin on his case of Classic Tractor Fever!

Had an old neighbor that was the local weld shop, and he put a 289 Ford in a WC Allis and when he got it together it would do over 50, on the maiden voyage he passed a woman in a Volkswagen Beetle and she about ran off the road, loved hearing him tell that story.

We clocked a 1100 Massey Ferguson back in the 60s in stock form at 45 mph and it was difficult to keep it in your lane of traffic with a 12 foot disk behind it it was a nnew tractor then

A great great Ford 8N and super nice guy, I am impressed with Mr. Jimmy Deakins ability and tenacity! He not only came up with the Cadillac engine concept, but his talent to make it look like it is a perfect fit is fantastic. Thank you for sharing this awesome story!

The year they featured Ford at Badger Steam and Gas Engine show at Baraboo Wisconsin, a guy brought a 8N Ford, that he had installed a V12 Lincoln engine in it. It ran super smooth and looked like a work of art!

This really brought back memories for me. I had a friend, ex brother in law, who was a huge fan of the 8N Ford tractor. He would buy and resell them as a hobby, and he had literally owned many dozens of them. He even once owned a flat head V8 ford conversion at one time. My Dad owned one that he bought new in 1952 and I spent many hours plowing, raking hay, and other chores on that little tractor. I really enjoyed this video, thanks for posting!

1949 was the first year for the Overhead Valve V8 for both both Cadillac and Oldsmobile. Oldsmobile was chosen as the Indianapolis 500 Pace Car because of this advancement. Oldsmobile’s Engine was also a Flathead V8 prior to 1949.

I would like to see that with an implement on back and working. Also, if anyone remembers, Henry Ford's first vehicle venture was a company that became Cadillac (I can't remember the name off hand) So I think it's just fine that an 8N is powered by Cadillac.

For those that want to know... Cadillac was formed from the remnants of the Henry Ford Company. After a dispute between Henry Ford and his investors, Ford left the company along with several of his key partners in March 1902. Ford's financial backers William Murphy and Lemuel Bowen called in engineer Henry M. Leland of Leland & Faulconer Manufacturing Company to appraise the plant and equipment in preparation for liquidating the company's assets. Instead, Leland persuaded the pair to continue manufacturing automobiles using Leland's proven single-cylinder engine. A new company called the Cadillac Automobile Company was established on August 22, 1902, converting the Henry Ford Company factory at Cass Street and Amsterdam Avenue. It was named after French explorer Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac, who had founded Detroit in 1701.

The neatest "conversion" I have ever seen was a John Deere G with a 392 Chrysler Hemi. He did a nice job on this one though and I have never seen a flathead Caddy engine either. Also learned today that Chrysler made a 354 with a poly head.
