    maybe the guard held the buttons in just before stopping so theyd open immediatley on stopping

    If this video is from before 1993, Sydney was still using trains with manually operated doors which were left open most of the time.

    Narrator: Be sure to release the doors on the correct side of the train. Me: no s24t Sherlock. Of course, you could get confused if you suddenly have to use a different platform than usual because of technical difficulties or other reasons, so I guess its a pretty good idea to remind yourself to check.

    Was on Mersey rail years ago when guard opened doors wrong side. Glad I and others weren't leaning on them. Sure guard was bored or pissed

    That’s because they were basically brand new. They were introduced on the 15th of September 1988. This video dates from 1989.

    Years ago on pacers with control panel covers left open flapping about. As a kid I was like would they open whilst we are moving?!

    They had traction interlocking all the way back then? Sydney didn't get traction interlocking until 2006, before that trains could move around with the doors open.
