    This project is really amazing , I haven't completed it yet but the incomplete dashboard looks beautiful. Really appreciate the hard work that you have put in this and provided for free. Just one suggestion , I am using an updated Power BI so many of visual formatting options have been relocated to some other option and it took a lot of time to find them and perform the operations, so maybe you can provide something for the new viewers to update them. Thanks anyway, looking forward to more such cool projects in the future .

    Hello Robert! I am really grateful to you. I have been looking for some good projects on youtube and yours is the best of them all. Congratulations! You helped me learn a lot about PBI. There is one thing that is still a bit confusing. I followed the video step by step, with all the filtering just as you did; and in addition to that, I've applied all the comments and answers below in this video, and I still didn't get to the exact number of rows. Nevertheless, I was able to finish the project without any problems. Thank you... Thank you... Thank you!

    I love this comment, thank you!! For the row count variance, the Kaggle dataset is continually updating. If you look at the dataset in the downloadable .pbix file, it is slightly different from the current dataset. Where did you get your dataset from? If you downloaded it the row count variances are expected. Thanks again for your support!!

Select the series 'Avg Rating" and set the color to red - the legend should have now changed 4. Change the chart back to original (line and stacked column) chart This should set it!

    52:52 I know this video is almost 6 months old maybe the feature was a new addition but still curious cant we use the 'Gradient' option from 'Format Style' for creating gradient instead of going through all this hurdles of creating a table and all?

  • @PowerBIBro

    @PowerBIBro

    29 күн бұрын

    Love the question and thank you for asking it! You can apply the gradient option from format style but you'll notice an important difference in the color results. To test it out, apply the gradient option and use the value of # Titles. You'll see the gradient does apply, but it scales from highest 'VALUE' to lowest 'VALUE', so the color does not go from Top to Bottom like the applied levels. The scaling would function similarly to how the bar chart scales from high to low. Hope this helps clarify the difference!

    Great video♥️. Just wanted to say can't we just use Round down (Rating s,0) instead of the whole switch statement??

  • @PowerBIBro

    @PowerBIBro

    6 ай бұрын

    Great question! We could round down the rating to just a whole number via a DAX function, but the second part of the switch statement assigns the color to the value. So the benefit is that we only need to manage the color selections one time inside the switch statement. If we instead we were to round the number, then we'd need to also setup the color for each rounded number in the conditional formatting of the visual itself. The cool thing about Power BI is that there is usually many ways to solve the same problem :) Hope this helps and thanks for the comment!

    Howdy! Great toturial and walkthrough. I know this is just a demo, but I kinda think its not necessary to throw away columns so carelessly. Also would it not be better to unpivot the genre column? this way we only keep the ALPHABETICALTY first genre, losing the majority of genres...

  • @PowerBIBro

    @PowerBIBro

    7 ай бұрын

    Great questions and thanks for the feedback! Removing the columns was intentional just to keep it focused on this demo, certainly a good practice to keep all applicable columns your end users may need. I also like the genre idea, to expand on it, I’ll create a separate “genre” table which splits all the comma separated values into rows, then we can count every possible genre a title is allocated to (one to many) Thanks for the ideas and feedback!!

Change the background of a ppt slide to a gradient color, save that as an image, then add the image as the background to the PBI canvas. Within power point, the background settings are under the format section if you right click on the background.
