Bruce Steveson " INDEED!.... This joined the pantheon of under-appreciated Horror sequels. Unfortunately, ' Damien: Omen II ' had the misfortune of premiering the year after ' Exorcist II: The Heretic ' sequel greatly bombed at the box office. Both failed to meet sniveling Hollywood critics and movie reviewer's unrealistic expectations following their original's huge success, during that era. Today's younger generations may not know, for decades, bad reviews could end or shorten film runs before some even reached ' the big screen ' . "

I really love damien's personality, he never was a sadistic child who only wants to kill all the people in the world like today's horror movie's kids. he was wise, polite and like a leader among the boys. he changed a lot after his friend's death.

Mersedeh M.H Damien’s cousin, and best friend Mark’s was the last straw. After his death it was if he didn’t care anymore. Mark was Damien’s humanity and moral compass. The book that came out about the time the film did said that mark and Damien were like brothers, closer than many twins. Up until then he had been fighting his destiny. When he lost the person he loved most when he lost his temper and used his power to kill him it was if his last tether to goodness and humanity was gone. Damien began to more and more fully embrace his true identity. Mark was his morality, his humanity and his conscience.

Damien: Omen 2 was in fact slightly better because it correctly extrapolated and developed the salient motifs emergent in the first movie. With two of those salients motifs being ' born of a jackal ' and the Megiddo excavationalism / artifacts. It did not go meandering off into some half-assed other tangents.

I think that taking this actor for the role of Damien was just a great idea! In my opinion, of all the existing stories about antichrists, the image of Damien looks the most logical. A young devil shouldn't look like a devil, his appearance is a kind of beautiful deception, a magical veil behind which the true essence is hidden. The same with the character, he is not a crazy psycho killer who only wants blood and murder, he is restrained, educated, intelligent and therefore truly charismatic. Also, a little bit empathic. So Jonathan's image is cold and gentle at the same time, it's definitely a bingo! And the chemistry between him and Mark reminds me of black and white, they complement each other. Due to the selection of actors and details, I would call this film not just a horror film, but a very aesthetic thriller✨️

What a nightmare of a thought to want to do this for real. I'm surprised they didn't ask the actress if they could actually let a raven poke out her eyes for the film.

This was very likely influenced by the original director Mike Hodges. He was on the film for 2 weeks before Harvey Bernhard dismissed him for 'taking far too long' setting up shots such as the introduction shot of Damien with the flames in front of him. Hodges wanted to make an 'extravagant' sequel but Bernhard wanted the film shot quickly to make the release date so he got his good friend and actor Don Taylor to take over the directorial duties when Hodges left the production of his own accord rather than being fired by Bernhard.

Jonathan Scott-Taylor is by far my personal favorite Damien Thorn. While he was evil incarnate, he was capable of caring, showing affection, friendship and human emotions. His performance had the audience rooting for him to somehow escape his fate. Even though he was the villain of the story, he certainly was a sympathetic one.

William Holden was an art collector. With that it then occurs that such might have had a direct or inadvertant input into the production. One or more of the film production team came around to his place asking him what he thought of the script, noticed his art collection, had a chin wag with him about it, then something clicked, with either him or them, then a snap of the fingers, pointing of the index finger, " You know what ? This give me an idea. There's all of this collection, but if we cook up something off the Megiddo excavation / Revelation motif. ". And so they get some arty snot to put together a Whore Of Babylon figurine, Then, " Let's personalise Damien himself into this somehow - to nail it. ". Excavations, so its gotta have an ancient or medieval look. So some artist conjures up searing Damien images on some rock slabs. " Doo doo doo dah dah dah, There - how's that ? ".

I like to think its only after he accepted his literal father lord and savior that is heart turned black and it became easier to eliminate those in his way. Favorite scenes are the confrontation with Mark and the moment his aunt kills to defend him and she is burned. Her yelling out his name in adoration and religious favor was priceless.

When I saw this years ago, I thought the actor talking to Damien at about the 6 minute mark was Robert Reed ("Mike Brady")

Both named Robert. But two different people. I leaned towards that mix up myself but never conclusively thought it was the same actor. Just one of those things which I just never had it clear. Robert Foxworthy as distinct from Robert Reed.

A briliant franchise, as I, II and III were realy good but the 4th is forgotten because it was so bad. The acting was much better than it is today along with the attention to detail. They didn't need CGI back then either.

Oh boy this franchise yes its about the Antichrist but I'll say the acting was good I really thought the actor who played him in the second film was really good and I think the best actor to play the role in that original trilogy.
