Power a Crock Pot With a Jackery Explorer 1000 Power Station

Today we made Pork Chops and Sauerkraut in a 2-Quart Slow Cooker by Crock-Pot. We used a simple recipe from allrecipes.com.
www.allrecipes.com/recipe/147...
The pork chops do not need browning but I did season them with black pepper. Just add sauerkraut and press the power button to start. We added only as much sauerkraut so that the crock was three-quarters full. For additional flavor, I added a half onion that was sliced and 2 cloves of minced garlic. The original recipe is for 4 pork chops and set the cooker on high for 5 hours or 9 hours on low temperature. The pork chops were tender in 4 hours.

Thank you for this video! With power outages happening more and more (and for longer amount of times) I've been trying to prepare for the worst.

Good video but a quarter of all heat is to get the crock pot warm. Also having something running at low wattage for a long time is not that efficient. I use a small rice cooker with my 500 w power station and that seems very efficient. As the pot itself is not hard to heat up and it only runs for 25 minutes in total. Makes great stews and curries

Thank you for making this video! It's exactly what I was wondering. I would love to know if an Instant Pot could be used with that Jackery.

You are welcome Jacqueline. 👍 Per Jackery we can use a 5 quart Instapot for 50 minutes on our Explorer 1000. We have a 6 quart Instapot so we would need the Explorer 1500 to run it. Hope this helps.

I think it was a 5 quart. The benefit of a crockpot is its low energy use. Thanks for watching. Laurie

Hi Alan which brand and model did you purchase? Let's start there.

Alan, the rice cooker will turn off when most of the water has cooked away. Then let the rice steam for about 10 minutes after the cooker has turned off. Wash your rice before cooking. For white rice, 1 cup rice,1 cup water. I let the rice and water sit in the cooker about 10 to 15 minutes before I cook it. For brown rice, 1 cup rice to 2 cups water or follow directions on the package. The cooker will shut off automatically or change to a keep warm setting. Most newer rice cookers have a keep warm setting. My old one was on or off. Let me know if I can answer any other questions. Laurie.
