What state were the wheels in before this process started? I'm getting wheels made in a raw aluminum finish since I'm planning to powder coat but I'm wondering now if they should be polished before they are powder coated ??

This was just a junk wheel that I had my son practice on. It was painted a silver (I think since it's been a few years). The wheel was stripped to raw aluminum and media blasted. Chrome was used as the base coat for the Shocker Yellow transparent. Although coating a transparent over actual chrome plating or polished aluminum will result in a brighter candy appearance I would not recommend it since that process omits media blasting to achieve the appearance which compromises proper adhesion. You're better off using the raw aluminum that you ordered and media blasting them properly, applying a chrome powder coat base and shooting the shocker yellow top coat.

I'm not a big fan of hot flocking but I will hot flock the shit out of some flakes or chameleon colors to build them up.

How much do you usually charge for powder coating? Do you ever have ppl ship you stuff to get powdered?

This video is a few years old and back then we used Prismatic Super Chrome. Since that time they changed to Super Chrome II and now it's Super Chrome Plus. I didn't notice ant significant changes to any of their newer chrome powder coat. I sill use Prismatic Chrome though. As long as it's applied as per the application guide it works fine for base coats when shooting transparents.
