I've noticed that normally during peak season, people especially with kids order alot of oversize items/large boxes in totes. I've emptied multiple totes at one house and i know the feeling. But hopefully now that peak is over, everything calms down, my DSP can return the rentals, and Rivian can ship out the rest of our 20 EDVs.

@@Mr.WonderfulGaming DSP's rent out U-Hauls and sometimes unmarked step vans to be able to accept more routes, therefore boosting their rating and standing with Amazon, and they get a bigger check from Amazon should they be able to accept and cover more routes. The second and most common reason is that the DSP is relatively new and are awaiting the green light to put all their EDVs on the road, or they are waiting for all their EDVs to arrive and rent out XL Transit, Promaster, and Sprinter vans in the interim. My DSP has since the second Prime Day last year, rented out more a dozen U-Haul vans, and not the nice ones, I'm talking about the short and small GMC Savanna vans that the steering wheel feels like im pulling on a rope, drivers are stereotyped as horrible (cuz these vans are commonly owned by contract workers, and i always ask around for anyone that wants a smaller route when i get a rental cuz i hate the metal partition between the driver and the back, not to mention the fact I'm too young to be saying "ooh, my back" or "ooh, my leg". I've already scratched myself with the rentals and bumped my head into the door latch at the top of the cargo door. To say the least, I can't wait to see the U-Hauls leave our parking lot.

@@xjok3r_25z5Small towns are okay. Usually pretty easy. It's the surrounding countryside that can be problematic. Especially in inclement weather. I do a route that is effectively two small towns, one subdivision, a couple trailer parks and the rest is country. The area is hilly so houses can be at the top of the hill or in a valley. Luckily it didn't snow much in my area in this past winter. Even without any precipitation the roads are curvy and there's a lot of blind curves and sometimes you can't back into a driveway so backing out into the road can be nerve wracking at times.

Your route looks amazing. Unfortunately my DSP we deliver to the woods, country and mountains. Dogs everywhere loose, steep hills and long driveways and one of our drivers are always getting stuck in the mud since everything is dirt roads. No lie, some people driveways are two miles long. We also deliver to farms, that tells you how rural our area is. It normally takes me 45 mins from the station to my first stop. Also, when it get dark in the rural areas we deliver, you cant see anything, not even your hand in front of your face, so a driver is always hitting something damaging trucks. I actually dont mind driving for Amazon, i just wish they'd change our delivery area.

Ngl peak almost took me out lol 450 packages everyday with insane group stops. My stop numbers actually went down because each stop was getting so many packages. I’d have 120-140 stops but 100 group stops and 5-15 packages going to each stop. Now I’m getting 200 stops a day with single package stops. The snacks are the only thing that kept me going but it sure was a game of Russian roulette every time eating weathered/expired shit that people leave outside haha😅

The UPS guy knows me too well. I did get 2 things delivered from Amazon delivery drivers while working in Dallas and up near Washington DC recently. Busy around Black Friday, then tapered off, then the week or so before Christmas was pretty busy again up until Christmas Eve. It's been pretty quiet since. I've only had 3 days the last two weeks, but losing 2 days for Christmas and 1 for New Years I wasn't shocked by that. We'll see how it goes with full weeks, and I'm sure some people will quit or be let go. Hoping I get to stick around because to be honest, I actually enjoy the work.

Where ever you are i would love to work in that state and location because i work in the state of maryland and we can not scan package in the van for DSB purposes …we have to be within 50 meters of the house ( so like drive way or first step on porch ) we are required to do 20-25 stops an hour for houses and 15-20 an hour for apartments so many us cant stop for lunch cause you will fall behind on stops and they dont want you on the road for 12hours because in 4days you will past your drive time also we cant group stop so scanning packages for all locations even if they are the same location we have to sit there individually scan and take pics! I like the joy of delivery to customers but the rules are ridiculous AND WE HAVE TO TURN THE VAN OFF EVERY STOP FOR EOC PURPOSES So when you are exiting and entering the van we have to take the key out and restart to go one house down 😢😢😢😢

Do you drivers in America not hide the parcels from view of the street? Because here in Australia we try to hide them out of view of the street. So no one walking past the house can see it and then flog it. But easy enough for the customer to find it.

I’ve been working for three weeks now, and one stand up we were told that for engine off compliance we had to open the driver door. Do you just… not have engine off compliance? Or are you bending the regulations a little because it doesn’t actually matter? I guess with the mailbox thing it’s more the second, but I’d like to hear which “Amazon things” actually make a difference and which ones are a complete waste of time, such as “don’t scan packages in the van” vs. on the road violations

Peak season was trash for me the week before Christmas on a Sunday I was in a ram Pro master and they gave me 174 stops and 314 packages. I had 25 totes and 30 overflow, I literally had to stack my totes up 4 high in order to fit everything but I manage to fit it all but I had to wait longer because my carts weren't ready and the warehouse workers went home because they went over the 12 hour mark so there were basically supervisors had to finish loading are packages onto carts. I had to bring back 30 stops because I ran out of time and only one person rescued me and she only took 9 stops even though she was supposed to take 20. So I didn't get home until 12:30am and I had to work that morning as well.

Hi Chris quick question is there a rule that you have to deliver the package closer to the door? I meant if there are steps at the house could we just leave the package at the top of the steps and not closer to the door so we don’t have to walk so much and take pic and get out to the next stop

Hey Chris, got a question, if a customer(s) at a single house/location has lets say 50 packages and fills up half your van/truck, would that give you more work to do or less since it's less driving and delivering and with half the packages going to 1 single stop? Do amazon drivers ever have to go back to the warehouse to refill the truck, or once they're done delivering everything inside their van they are done for the day.

No, the driver wouldn’t have to go fill up again. Dispatch will probably just send the driver out to do something called a “rescue” what that means is that the driver will have to go to a co-worker and get some of his packages to help him deliver them

Congratulations getting yourself snacks maybe someday if I go to your location or you can tell me where you live not exactly your entire address of your home what I mean is where? What city or country do you live in so I know where you go to for your deliveries because maybe someday I might actually rent a house for a week or at least maybe two or a month so I could actually perhaps leave a tray full of snacks on the holidays
