POV-Tutorial: How to make

This is an update to my POV video from 2016 (how to make electro). Many viewers were interested in post production, others noted that the vintage gear used is hard to get nowadays at reasonable prices. So instead of an original TR-808, JX-3P and Alpha Juno (all made in the 1980s) i'm using gear that is easily available today. Even the Novation Ultranova can be found pretty cheap on ebay, as it is not the most popular synth. The RD8 makes a pretty good 808-clone, especially when processed.
The first part is programming the notes/drums, then recording a jam, slightly tweaking the synths. The 3rd part is cut together, as it turned out my jam was not very edit-friendly and needed more time than expected to edit, so i cleaned this mess and just included some snippets. At the end, the arranged/mixed track is played back from Ableton Live.

Finally there’s a video on KZread of an artist producing REAL Electro and not a video titled Electro when the video is actually acid trance. Nice work!

All I gotta say is, who cares if it’s not the original vintage equipment when it sounds THIS good!?
@twoHRdrive

i think the newer equipment (generally) sounds better, has more features, and that the fetish over the vintage stuff is more about collecting than it is about sound.... just my two cents

Yeah bro what's the link
Having grown up with and loved 80s electro this passes the credibility test, very few people get it right on YT. The bassline is great and the punch from the RD8 works brilliant, a lot of the magic is in the arrangement just keeping things interesting, drum fills in the right places and staying within the confines of the genre without overdoing it or sounding too modern. 9/10

When people ask me where to start with hardware for this style of music, I always tell them to get an RD-8 and the SH-101 clone of your choice, and you just proved out my sage advice! haha... but seriously, great work man!

Hi! I also saw way many people use SH01 clones, is it for the sound? I'm about to get a bass station 2, it hass more features and I guess it will work nice for electro...

Nice sound. I have the RD-8 since two days. A LOT of fun. Much better than VST plug-ins. You simply have to have something in your hand.

Yo, this is fire 🔥. Straight up, the jam so nice, I commented twice, and played it thrice, Now I got a fever, and the only prescription is 808, I love hearing new ideas, I never even thought about doing electro vibes with my rd 8, and also i didnt realize how awesome all those signal outs were, like how you used that cowbell out for the bass, genius
That was SICK bro! That drum machine is on my list for sure.
Great job. I listened all the way to the end which is rare for me on KZread. Watching the whole (thankfully edited) process was useful too. Thank you

Really enjoyed this, thanks for sharing. The POV intro was a particularly fun, I was right there bopping my head riding on your shoulders. I have an RD-8 mk2 and RD-6 on the way which when paired with my Model D and Crave shall be known as an Ulistack. I hope someday to make anything that sounds half this good.
