We used to not care about bad weather either at our barn (except if it was really bad) but since all of the horses are now between 20 and 35 we won’t ride during rain anymore (except if it’s light) because we don’t want to risk their health just because we want to go on a ride. We also don’t have a roofed arena, so they’ll just all have a day off where we just do cuddle sessions🥰

We always played hide and seek. I would turn them all loose in the barn to go on a treat scavenger hunt. It was a blast and all the critters got involved. Sheep, goats, horses, both sizes, cats and lgds, chickens ad turkeys❤

One time I was riding a horse named snip bc I had to practice on him for the show, and it was freaking pouring. He looked like he just got a 30 min bath 😂😂

Love horses so much and it is so accurate

I ride in most weather, simply because it's just a chance to relax and bond with my horse, it's not like I'm going to do anything complicated while its pouring or there's a snow storm. It's also a great way to practice trust between us both as well! The only weather I wouldn't go riding in is a thunderstorm or a really windy day.

It can physically hurt the horses at my barn if the arena or trails are wet. It gets too slippery and dangerous, a friend broke her back because of it. I wish I could ride in rain tho 😭😭

My teacher used to force us to go even if it rained a lot and that none of us had a jacket , with years we learned and just kept a spare one with our stuff

I got stuck in the barn because of a storm when I was at a horse camp

Weather never bothered me too much but then me and my horse are spoiled with indoor arena. But my 59 year old body screams with my arthritis in rainy, damp and cold weather lol. 😆🇺🇸

Where I live the weather is either out to kill you or there is no weather happening. I’ve had 3 weeks off because it’s been -55°C and because no one plowed the roads. Safety comes first. Can’t ride if you will die from being outside for 15 minutes.

I was supposed to have a lesson today. She doesn't have an indoor arena. It's snowing and is supposed to change to a pouring rain. Temperature isn't supposed to go above 40* F. I am NOT riding in this kind of weather. Neither of us would enjoy it. And we would both end up soaked. That's not fair to her. Plus, this is the first week that I've felt good in a month. I don't need to take any chances on getting sick again, especially since I may be having surgery in a month.

When you only have an outdoor gravel track and dirt arena you don't wanna wreck, you don't ride in the rain 😭 Canadian rain is often during chilly months anyway. Me and my horse will enjoy our rain coats and our shelter. 😂

My horse spooks in the rain... like he hadn't known rain was a thing for 20 years. One time when we were about to go on a hack and it started raining so we went to the indoor schools and all the others didn't want to get wet so they were rushing to the school as our instructors told them to let me go first as my horse was literally rearing, they didn't so I had to sit and wait on a rearing horse.

See, i wouldn't mind a bit of rain, but... I despise muddy pastures since i once almost lost one of my boots to it. (lil story time..) And by lost, i mean, i stepped in a muddy spot and that boot was like "alright peace bro ✌️" and my instructor had to DIG IN THE MUD to find it because it was straight up gone, but i still just put it back on like nothing had happened and like a month later another girl came up to me and said "wait are you the girl that lost her boot to the mud?!" And i turned to my instructor and said "WAIT YOU TOLD PEOPLE ABOUT THAT?" Turns out she had indeed told people about that. I was so embarrassed 😅

Hehe i remmeber waterproofing my hat so ot wpuldnt soak through and wearing a full on duster to keep rain off me and the saddle as we went riding

I will never understand horse girls like that… like… you already clean literal shit out of their hooves as basic grooming before/after a ride and horses stink to high hell. I’m an English rider, I ride everyday rain hail or shine, I do question her outfit though, if you’re wearing the same colour head to toe….. it was clearly the prison uniform, and dear god that seam! How can she breathe!!??
