was just about to ask the board length. i have a 7'5" padillac too. it's right on the limit of duckdiveable. thats a pretty small board for the wave size. yew!

So just out of interest, what's your opinion on guys doing step off's the ski with so many paddlers out? Surely they must be local to get away with that in a line up like puerto? Cheers. Great vlogs by the way, can't wait for the next winter on Oahu 👍
Love these raw edits, shows so much of the experience of surfing instead of just catching waves!.. I only wish the GoPro lens didn't flatten everything out & make a 15-20foot wsve look 5 ft tall.

I just love that they are able to capture the footage, as back in the day it was a separate film crew. I love the breathing and emotions, brings back so many feelings. Thanks bud!

Same, these videos have helped my tremendously. Catching waves was always the easy part for me but I used to dread getting caught inside since I’m not the strongest swimmer and I don’t get to surf as much as I’d like but I’ve slowing been getting more comfortable in bigger surf after finding these videos.
Love watching these raw edits, makes me feel a little of the real deal, especially when it's got some size. Been four long years since having to give up surfing due to a brain injury. Took me three years before I could even watch surf vids because it was too emotional for the loss and Nate's POV raw edits were the ones that broke the heartache. Keep it up mate, the stoke is real 🤘🏼

@@NathanFlorence Thanks mate, it sucks alright because it was my surfboard that caused it. Charging DH MTB has taken surfing's place so I still get my fix of stoke, just in a different way, but it'll never replace the ocean. I get to live vicariously through blokes like you.
Great video Nathan thanks for that! I'm 56 years old and I don't have the energy it takes to surf at that level anymore so it's an absolute pleasure to watch you rip those waves.
Loving the flow from catching a wave at 5:00. You kick out and instantly start paddling hard to JUST make it under the next wave. This is great showing not just riding waves but paddling out. I'm constantly telling my son, don't waste any time in the impact zone. This video is a perfect example of that. Your hustling was AWESOME!!!!

I just watched that...that wave was massive! 10ft+? Reminds me of Ala Moana Bowls 2 days ago, you'd take one, have to hop out the back and paddle asap

@@skippyf.t.pfilmthepolice2358 Absolutely! Especially on bigger days, I will spend some time before I go out, watching the lineup to see where and when I want to paddle out. One of the goals is to make it out with dry hair! You gotta be looking for the rips before you paddle out, I call the rip the conveyor belt!

The amount of work surfers put in for a few seconds of thrill and glory is amazing. A special breed indeed😊
Insane as usual but what really strikes me about this is I think it's the first time I've seen a POV surf video that goes until after sunset. Something we've all seen (probably not all in huge beachbreak!), but never seen on KZread. -Feeling it!
Great perspective, thanks for making the effort to share what went down. Lived it when you described the channel taking you back out “not by choice”. Been there too and helps me relive those life-affirming moments
That's some controlled chaotic line up, when the sets keep coming the adrenaline rush... That was so fun to watch 🤙🤙
I love that you include the paddling out and around the lineup hunting waves. Very "1st person" feel. 🙌
I'm digging these POV sessions. Keep charging Nathan, fun to watch and I'm paddling harder thanks to you!
Thanks for making these videos I work in a milk factory and can't surf anymore but these have helped keep surfing alive for me cheers to you and all the guys and girls who make it happen.
Nathan, I could watch your vids for hours. Feels like Im right there in the lineup, and in many cases in settings outside of my skillset. Thanks so much for sharing these !! PS: Thanks for the stats and info
Awesome! This video makes me, not just remember my 80s surfing but the feelings i had forgotten! Thanks!
I especially like the video where you indicate when to duck dive under a big wave and when to bail. You paddle fast so there is less chance to encounter a bail and swim for the bottom situation. It felt like drowning twice over the years when a thick wave lip drilled me under water. We learn a lot from your surfing videos. Wish I had known when to bail way back then.
Such immersive material! So stoked to see you charging puerto!!!
Man this video makes me so stoked! Been going thru a pretty major back/spine injury these last few months, and watching this makes me so pumped. Heart beating on some of those you just make it under the lip on the duck dive. Thanks Nate, makes me feel like I’m back on a trip charging haha

Glad your enjoying! Bro those duck dives were rsiky on my 7’5 and those sets were 15ft easy i was hoping i didnt get sucked over!
That sunset was poppin’! Awesome session, 2.5 minute paddle-out, and especially with the grunting on wave three.
Thank you for this. Brings back memories of my time there. What an incredible wave. Those clean up single waves were nuts...
Thanks for keeping it real. The misses, the makes the wipeouts and near disasters. The life we live (love) from a real perspective...... only a bit more ferocious than many of us can latch on to.

GEtting spat out at 5:00 and then, using the momentum to glide back out and barely make it under the lip of a fat one, was Top notch. Nathans the most barreled dude in 2023
Nothing more magical than afternoon cleanup session at maxing Puerto. You legend
This is showing people how much energy you really have to have in order to surf big waves and especially Puerto. You don’t just get one big wave and celebrate… As soon as you pull off that next step is already rolling in
Great footage, great angle, no music or slow mo. Such a natural perspective.
Thanks for putting that together man that was siiic. Strong paddling & surfing 💪
Love that Go Pro action. Shows all the in's and outs ups and downs. Cool being out by self for awhile. Thanks for posting.
8:30 I thought it was going to be a closeout. I don't know how you made it through that section but I cheered for you when you came out. lol Epic footage Nathan and Ivan!
Incredible video, even though these step-offs right where most people are paddle-surfing seem quite annoying

Couldn't agree more, the beauty, skill and technique of paddle in waves compared to the ungainly step-off and then the wash from the jet ski. The closeness of the jet ski to the paddling surfers looked potentially dangerous, particularly when the jet ski peels away after dropping off the surfer. Nathan showed that the paddle out and paddle back out was possible, so why the jet ski? Cheers

Sick!!! I love these clips, feels like beeing there, its what everyone wants to do with a GoPro but cant :) Thank you for sharing your experience!
Fantastic . I can't surf at all any more due to an acquired disability and this conjured so many brilliant feelings for me. Esp the adrenaline-primed rapid paddle off the beach. Loved it. Thank you.
You're a beast man! Love your POV vids!
I always start watching these thinking I’ll just watch 2 min but I never *just* watch 2 minutes lol. No other surf vids feel like surfing as much as these do!
Couple of solid barrels. Beautiful sunset. Incredible
Watching Nathan paddel helps me understand why he is a pro and I am a joe. I need to work on my conditioning! 👍
Good stuff Nate! Thanks for the awesome pov
That day I surfed la punta in the morning and it was big:) I run to Zicatela in the evening to see you surfing, it was amazing!! These huge sets, crazy barrels, stoked to see you guys paddling into that!! And I met Zord at the beach:) Saludos chicos 🤙 enjoy Puerto!!
I love your surfboard a real pure source bolt awesome memories here and wOw nice video mad respect 🙏 Nathan
Love watching these paddle out vids when it’s flat at my home break.
One of the best POV's EVER..........the go out at Puerto is strenuous, to say the least, and he was frothing.
Loved the ending, getting dark and paddling in against the rip/ trying to get that last wave ....
I had a rough day and you just made it better.. Thanks bro..
Oh great the anxiety of the paddle outs are starting to get to me 😂.. great content Nate Dogg
Thanks for this one, feel like I never get to really see pros surfing puerto like this, footage is rare. Days like this are my favorite after a big swell, gets more peaky. Wish the go pro would pick up on how the barrels sound from the side, other than that everything about this triggers my puerto ptsd, including trying to get back before it gets dark lol
Lovin' it all, especially you encouraging Ivan... Badass Sunset too!
I love how Nathans always playfully yelling at people in the line up. You can tell he still gets hyped on surfing like a big kid, as a pro should, given their blessed life!
Nate that was sick. Glad you got it before crowd hit.
My wife was asking me why I keep holding my breath or breathing oddly, lol I had no idea I was doing it. I’ve surfed Puerto three times and got smoked quite a few times, but worth the barrels. Nathan is a beast 🔱
That was sick! really enjoyed watching that. Thanks!
Looks sharky
OHHH yeah. I been waiting hehehe Bolts look sick!!
It’s crazy how much bigger it is than it looks on Go pro. I surfed here 10 odd years ago up to around 10-12ft but was genuinely terrified at that size. What surprises me is that you don’t get caught inside more. I remember how scary the paddle out is - once you decide to go if a set comes and you’re half way out, you’re fooked! 😱 Not in a rush to go back
Your so confident in the water. The footage is amazing.
That sky!! woooo, tehaupoo, now Puerto escondido, that live Nathan.
Great Vid bro. Reliving my youth for sure. This is how we used to stay skinny back in the 80s. Lol. No skis or wave runners needed. Just brutal head on.
i love that you give all the session and not just the riding
Insane session! I appreciate you leaving in the struggle of getting back into the beach; depending on the spot and the size that's often the part of surfing that freaks me out the most. I liked seeing how you handled it with composure here!

Awesome footage! Makes me feel like I’m in the water with you!
I haven't seen a lightning bolt on a board in 40 years. Kudos kid, live the dream.
Oh man! Felt so relieved when you took that last one in😅
your paddling endurance is insane

Really enjoyed the POV aspect of this. Like I was out there with ya. Cheers. Nice Sunset..
Thanks so much. I’m a Florida boy who grew up on beach breaks and always wanted to see what it looks like with a beach break this massive. Finally someone delivers raw video.
