My preferred trick shot is missing my intended red and sending the cue ball into the pocket. It’s strange as I’m remarkably good at it and yet I haven’t practiced it at all.

@@Zidane87 I was exaggerating a bit. Thirty years or so ago I learnt how to pot the odd ball or two. I made a 50 break once. Just the once. Usually I reached 20 or so. I was a good 8 Ball pool player, though. Five pints in and I was a monster.

Fast cloth on those snooker tables. That first shot was a thing of beauty. The draw into the corner on the diagonal shot: "not an easy shot". That's putting it mildly, I don't hit my cross table drill like that all the time and that's across an 8' table with bigger pockets. It was amazing to me the first time I tried it how many ways there are to pull it in back in the slightly wrong direction, enough to miss the pocket. Pretty sure I discovered ALL of them in a few of the first ten tries. :-)

Loved the video. One of the shots I was hoping to see was from blue to pink. I know it's not an exhibition shot but I need to know how to play it. It's the shot where the white comes off it's natural angle and just straightens up off the bottom cushion to land perfect on the pink. From the TV view, the white would be on the right hand side of the table like at 4:20 and finish just above the pink on the same side. The shot on the black you play at 2:19. I would play that with the same amount of right hand side like you take the shot at 3:02. Keep them coming Steve. Very useful.

Great video! I watch yours and some other channels regularly and it is a common recommendation to use side only if absolutely needed (in game that is). What level would you say I should be at to start practicing shots with side? I am still a beginner (1 year playing, 19 max break and I hit say 7/10 half ball black of the spot and 9/10 half ball blues) and I only play shots with screw and top spin, no side yet, maybe for safety shots. Thanks!

Hi! Keeping it simple is the way to go at first. No need to overcomplicate things. Always have a play around with everything though. Why not try using a bit of side for 5-10 mins at the end of each session. Get a feel for how it works. Good luck 😃

The dipthong is 'ah eye' for anyone speaking English, it's just that it happens so quickly you don't think about it. If you sing, or sang much, you would likely be aware of this, and you hold the ah typically and finish to the 'eye' at the cut off, just before the end of the note. I guess the Brits do it when talking, too. Interesting.
