Its funny that unlike most composers of his time Poulenc's music became progressively more tonal and less dissonant as he ages. Although his early works and late works are all gems.

Interesting how this piece is the complete antithesis of Poulenc’s Sonata for Flute. I wouldn’t even believe the same composer wrote both pieces.

Why? Which elements make such a difference? Not arguing your sentence, as an amateur flutist I'm honestly curious indeed :)

@@lucatacchino2052i mean you can hear it, the flute sonata is straightforward, very tonal with beautiful less complicated melodies. This masterpiece Is somehow more complicated and less tonal, and Is also kinda scary, in my opinion. Love both of them anyway, Poulenc wrote some incredibile music

An early work by poulenc still reminiscent of Stravinsky's Petrouchka and ROS

In the fourth bar at 0:36, is there a specific reason why the A clarinet is written to play an E instead of a G?

I believe it is a misprint, but the performer played as written.

The Stravinsky influence is strong with this one
