Yeah, as a broke twenty-something who only got into houseplants to avoid the quarantine blues AND just so happened to work at Goodwill this last summer I figured out that thrifting for plant supplies was the way to go. Not only can you find actual flower pots but I learned to take vases, metal pales, anything ceramic and even cereal bowls to turn into flower pots with enough imagination. I drilled into ceramic decor to make draining pots, brought home colored glass for propagating, found plant stands, little shelves and other small pieces of furniture to equip my childhood bedroom I am still living in to work with my newfound obsession. If you're good you can find macrame hangers like I did, hooks, screws and nails, window screen and all the other stuff I use for gardening/houseplants. If the work place place politics weren't so toxic I would totally be working there, but even then I still go back and thrift for all of these things over buying them new... and I never buy clothes new, either.

So true , since the pandemic I started gardening and it is so stress-free. As for thrifting , I'll say don't knock it until you try it. There are many wonderful finds and the Goodwill,RWB and so many other good thrift stores.

Upped my plant game this year as well. Had a bunch of expensive mugs that the finish crazed. Am now using them for starts and a mini ornamental pepper. I no longer throw out bottles. Used to recycle them until they quit taking them but now have found a way to reuse them.

@@Fablevill they are great for holding multiple plastic water bottles (with drainage holes) for tomato plants etc. I also find nesting them with a few rocks in-between (drainage holes in the top one) works well for micro-greens. 😊

I always go to thrift stores for pots. They have the best unique finds.

I grew up on thrift shopping! You can find awesome stuff. Many people call me cheap when I say that, but when you're one of four kids, and your mom KNOWS there's good stuff there...you go, lol. I wish more people were open to it.

Hi Ashley--- Welcome to thrifting!!!!. You can find some great stuff at the goodwill stores. Some people get tired of things and donate them to goodwill. You might even find some of the things you saw at the plant store just much cheaper. It's great when that happens cause you really get a bargain. Have a great New Year and happy hunting!!!

I loved your haul you got a lot of nice things, I volunteer in a warehouse 3 days a week and my job is to sort through the bric-a-brac..the awesome things that people just donate is unbelievable..I have found a lot of cute pots but need to stop bringing so much home I'm running out of space to store it all..thanks for sharing..

I love to go thrifting for plant supplies... The pots are truly the jewelry your plant wears and sometimes they can be more expensive than the plant... Thrifting is also an excellent way to recycle..

Hi Ashley! I love plants, especially succulents and ferns, AND thrifting so I had to watch this! I thrift planters of all kinds, plant succulent gardens in them and my local thrift store sells them for me and helps out folks who are overcoming addiction issues by giving them jobs. Thanks so much for this amazing and truthful video, an amazing thing about thrifting for planters at thrift shops is that you never know when you'll come across an antique, original vintage and even created by well know to many but not to others artists.

We used to have one of those clocks with the cloche when I was a kid. I was always fascinated by it

I have to say one thing.. for years I have spend zillions just on pots alone.. however never did I thought in my wildest dreams that one can actually use other pots.. in fact your video has really opened my eyes.. come on imagine your beautiful in any of those stunning pots.. thrift stores will def be my next stop..thanks for sharing :-)

I always get my pots & baskets at thrift stores & Ebay & garage sales & flea markets.

Great haul. I love thrifting. Unfortunately in Ontario Canada we are in lockdown again. I neeeeed to hit the thrift shops. Lol. I love that anniversary clock. I have one my sister bought for my birthday years ago. I adore it. It will look great on your plant shelf. I suppose if I can’t go thrifting shopping along with you was the next best thing. 💚🇨🇦

Happy New Year everyone! Welcome Ashley to thrift shopping. I have also learned this pass year about thrifting. My favorite piece that I've found thrifting is my wood beach. It seem as if someone had just finished shellacking it and then donated it. The wood on this bench is heavy-duty and it looks very well by my window.

Watching on the big screen as I type. I love going to thrift stores and now that I’m a plant parent I’ve been seeing so much great stuff I could fill an entire room. Those plants were amazing. I wish I had been a plant parent when I used to live in Charlotte these shops definitely would have plant furnished my apartment.

I bought peperomia,micans,neon pothos and a zz plant few days back. All together they cost me 1000 taka which is like 13/14 us dollars! Plants are so expensive out there. My south asian cheap ass is gasping! 😂

Thrift stores and garage sales are where it's at! Planty goodness. Yes you sometimes have to use your imagination to see the planty things. And spray paint is magical! I got some cute little cupcake stands at Target dollar spot the other day that I know will be perfect little plant elevators. But they are red. No problem, I have spray paint!

Thrifting is definitely part of my plant obsession too! This is only the 2nd of your videos that I've watched, but I love your style with your combo of fun an cute, but not over the top and crazy lol. My last couple trips to Goodwill have been for plates and bowls to use as saucers so that it's easier to bottom water :)

I buy most of my pots at thrift stores, the revelation lol you’ll never go back. I do buy my terra cotta pots new though. I love the duck pot, I always pick up the ones that look like there is no other one like it.
