Postgame - UCLA's Press Conference (March 11, 2023)

Спорт

Coach Cronin, senior Jaime Jaquez Jr. and freshman Amari Bailey met with reporters after the Bruins' 61-59 loss to Arizona in the championship game of the 2023 Pac-12 Tournament in Las Vegas. Bailey led the Bruins with 19 points, as UCLA's 12-game winning streak was snapped on Saturday evening.

I just read a brief article that Josh Lewin the voice of UCLA basketball right away noticed that some Arizona fans yelled at Hep. I don’t know how the incident started or why it occurred in the first place. Like what all of you have said classless. You win with class and you lose with class. Congratulations to Arizona for winning the title and I hope Hep is okay and well.

I love this team ❤💛💚 . I love the coach . They will be ready for the tournament . I was 2 years younger than Ben Howland and played against him during his Cerritos hs days with Guderian and Scott . Ben Howland was an excellent coach. Unfortunately he ran into a Florida team that was better. Howland got run off because he never produced an up tempo offense. But his team defense was extraordinary. What people dont realize was Wooden's defense was always excellent. Wooden brought the full court press to life. This up tempo created a fast pace to his offense's. Of course having Alcinder/Jabbar and Greatful Dead/ Walton didnt hurt. But his teams of Roe Wicks Paterson and Erickson Hazard Goodrich were built on pressure defense. Wooden coached to his players talent. I see Cronin doing exactly that. This year Cronin has 6 freshmen. Hopefully next year he has 6 sophomores. They will compete if Amari and Adem return.

The one that still bothers me is Bailey dunking on Larrson but they call Bailey for an offensive foul, he didn’t extend his arm out like the refs indicated, he went straight up. To move on, It’s going to interesting how bad Adem Bonas shoulder really is and what Jaylen Clark’s status is. Without them or even one of them they will have some issues at both ends of the floor. You gotta hope and pray that they get better.

Will echo what others below have said. Very proud of this Bruin team !. The on court effort was the epitome of "4's Up". We were considerably short-handed, as well as being undersized. No disrespect to U of A, but with Clark and Bona out, that made a huge difference, and will come tournament time. Props to the kid who hit that big shot for the Cats, very clutch. But, I was not impressed with AZ. They should have won that game by 10 points or more. I have so much respect for this team !!

Mike I'm a bruins fan from 1950s to present day. Etienne and Knuba sp???? Are not braintrusts. Etienne is young and emotional. Knuba is under schooled. He just hasnt played enough. The 2 bigs for Az. Are simply better. They both fouled out because the Az bugs were better. Jaquez and Singleton didnt have their A games. So we lost. What is incredible is that UCLA just doesn't quit. This team may not win it all but they play as if their hair is on fire. That is why Cronin is bald. His team is an extension of him.

There's no arguing that Arizona is the BEST TEAM in the Pac-12. They beat UCLA 2/3 times this year, beat Creighton, Indiana, Tenessee. Not to mention Ąžuolas Tubelis, who has more PPG, rebounds and FG% than Jamie Jaquez ("POTY"). Not to mention Tommy Lloyd, who has the record for most wins in a coach's first 2 season (but somehow Cronin is "COTY"?). UCLA is always overrated because they're an LA school.

Maybe UCLA should investigate Hep and ban him from games if he's going to start fights and assault minors. "Immediately following the UCLA game, Hep Cronin physically assaulted our friend’s son, a 17 year old, hitting the minor in the face and neck. Unprovoked. The minor was crossing the front row with his mother, where they had tickets, to join the father at the other end of the row to leave the game. Hep was sitting in this row. Hep told the boy and his mother that ‘they weren’t allowed by.’ The kid and his mother crossed anyway to reach the kid’s dad, at which point Hep started the shoving the kid, and then struck him in the face and neck. In the following scuffle, the kid’s dad tried to reach his child, and was thrown out of the arena by security and police. Police REFUSED to take a report or press charges, stating that ‘Hep told him not to walk in front of him.’ On a public row, where they were sitting, where they had tickets. Multiple people witnessed this."

The game was on the line in last min.s. Cronin has to put the ball in hands of its star players to shoot! Not Will McClendon chucking up 3's who barely played all season. Jaquez avoided Tyger in last seconds. Tyger clearly could have made last shot! So, Jaquez gives ball to its Freshman! Dylan Andrew's. Jaquez, Tyger, Singleton, Amari, shoot the damn ball for a game winner! NOT freshman in game winning moments. UcLa , You Get what you deserve!!

Your team lost, and you should not be a troll. Also, stop teaching your players to generate fouls into their opponents' faces with their elbows. A couple of things: 1) just for kicks, can you offer some examples of UCLA acting classless and how rowdy Big-10 fans are? I know they are passionate, but I would like a distinction against the typically boorish behavior of Arizona fans. Total freakin' cretins, just as we see yet again with behavior towards an 81 year old man; 2) I'd never hire anyone from Arizona, its a mediocre school filled with undistinguished Arizonans and SoCal 's UC and USC rejects; its a very rare occurrence when the "U of school (Arizona) " is vastly inferior to the already lousy state school. Sad when you - let alone anyone - is owned by ASU. UCLA: number one rated public school in the country (USN&WR/WSJ) and the most applied to school in the world, with therefore with lowest acceptance rate among public schools nationally. Oh yeah, forgot: NCAA Championships - Arizona 19, ......UCLA 120
