Post surgery depression? Doctor's Rx

Surgery and anesthesia can cause or exacerbate depression, even though we don't often talk about this before patients have surgery. This depression can make the pain of surgery worse, and it can even impact the surgery recovery process.
Don't forget that depression is also tightly linked with anxiety, trauma and PTSD, and other mental health conditions.
I share three powerful tricks to help prevent the risk of developing depression after surgery. Of course, that risk depends on the surgery type, anesthesia type, how well controlled your depression is before surgery, and how optimized your mental health is before you receive anesthesia.
Mental health matters so much before surgery and anesthesia! Every little bit helps improve your chances of a safe surgery and more comfortable recovery process!
Breathwork, aromatherapy, and solid nutrition are key to surgery, anesthesia, and recovery!

Hey doc, A formula one driver Alex Albon was rushed to hospital with appendicitis a few weeks ago, he had a reaction to the the sleep juice and ended up with respiratory failure and put on a ventilator for a few days. Is this common and what are your thoughts. he is fine and made a full recovery and is racing again this weekend. but that could have ended badly for him or at least his racing career.

I understand how you feel. I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my mom in 2013 and my dad in 2015. I'm an only child. Even though my parents had divorced years ago and my dad remarried, we all loved each other! Even my mom and stepmom were friends. I still have my stepmom. I think of my parents every day.

@@englishlanguagelearnarts1554 Well, yes and no. I had wonderful parents. Now I was 8 when they divorced and it was a tough time for me. They never spoke badly about the other. I wasn't interrogated after spending time at the other's house. I was married and had just had my 2nd baby when dad remarried. I was an adult. Long before that I could see where my parents were 2 different people. They loved each other like siblings. They were different people though. I came to love my stepmom. She's a wonderful lady. She's treated me and my children like hers. She and my mom became good friends. Yes, I miss my parents, but I had 50 years with them! That's a lot more than many other people have had. So, I'm blessed! We have lost some dogs recently. We had dogs and then we rescued a few. They are aging. My mini poodle is 15 years old tomorrow. My corgi is 10 now and my poodle mix is 5. We have lost a few in the last couple of years that were hard. I have heard that the price for love is death. Please don't take this the wrong way. I hope you'll talk with someone if you feel the need. Even talking with a friend can be beneficial. Take care!
