Thank you for sharing! When you started crying I did too, I’m 6 weeks post full colectomy surgery and I want a jpouch too. What you said is true though, I’m grateful in a weird way for all that I’ve gone through because I know I’m a stronger person and better because of it. Finding your video makes me feel less alone.

Thanks for sharing. My 17 year old daughter is STILL recovering from the second (January 28, 2019) and third surgeries (March 21, 2019). Left over inflammation in the rectal cuff from life saving surgery 3 years ago, which we never did anything to help it over past 2.5 years, wound up becoming so inflamed that it burned up all her calories and she lost too much weight to the point she was very sick (didn't have much weight to lose in the first place). WE are now 7 months into recovery (from Early February 2019) and she is struggling with abdominal pain (j pouch peristalsis?) and diarrhea, (depending on the day is worse or better). She missed half a year of school and was expected to graduate next year. She is very SAD that she has been missing out on life, as she has been house bound with toileting urgency. :o(

You are so inspiring. I follow you on Instagram. I got my ileostomy Nov 2017 and am considering the jpouch. I am afraid of surgery again but this gives me hope. I pray you have a speedy recovery and all goes well. ❤

Hi Zoe For me the 1st and 2nd operations were hell. My loop ostomy didn’t perform very well but then I guess there’s a reason why they are temporary. It was dug in very deep to my skin so whenever I applied the bag it would always seep a bit. Ultimately very impractical. I’m happy to have the j pouch now, but I’m taking codeine and loperamide to slow things down. You’re an inspiration and I hope you continue to spread awareness.

I am so inspired by you and wish to thank you. I had my Sub-total Colectomy on 27.05.21 for my Chronic Ulcerative Colitis. I will never forget that experience. It was life-changing and now, I am going to have my J-Pouch Surgery at some stage in 2022. Listening to you really makes me feel positive. Thanks once again, Zoey. Love all your videos. You're great.

Hi. Thanks very much for your message. Firstly, I would like to wish you all the best at your 1st surgery. I completely understand what you must be going through. At the moment, I've just recently had my MRI to check for any signs of Crohn's Disease prior to J-Pouch. But the results came in and the hospital told me they showed there are traces of crohns'colitis. Now I am going for another test, where they ask to swallow a camera capsule to look more closely. But I can tell you that for travelling, I always ensure I always keep a very strong stock of my stoma supplies with me. Take all the extra supplies and medication to ensure that there are no leakages or accidents, especially abroad.

@@JPzizou Hi Zoey, Apologies for delay in reply. I had a major surgery for what turned out to be Crohn's Disease, so they told me that I can never have a j-pouch, so I had a total completion proctocolectomy surgery with re-sectioning of the ileum and barbie-butt. I had a drain inside the left-side of my bottom which was taken out on the day of my discharge. Now, I have a permanent stoma and on Adalimumab 40 mg every second thursday. i am now recovering after the surgery and gradually making a recovery. i have to stay on adalimumab for my crohn's. Hope all is well for you these days. Just trying to get back on my feet again, but they have removed the rectal stump that caused all the bleeding from my rectum. Will keep you posted in on my health.

I just got my J pouch 3 days ago, I am home now, and I am constipated. I have to strain to let anything out. Not sure if it is because of the pain meds or if something has gone wrong.

Hey Gorgeousness, Your doing well (as far as I can tell) I'm still following you and learning from you as you go through your journey. Yes all of our journeys are different, but to be a witness to as many journeys as we can, gives each of us valuable information, that we can use if ever we are placed in a similar situation. I appreciate you, and your Journey. Much love from your Aussie Ostomy friend. Xx
