POST AND CORE (Part-2) / SIMPLE STEPS FOR POST & CORE PROCEDURE / Customized VS Prefabricated Post.

Watch this video to know the step by step technique for a customized / cast post and also for a prefabricated fibre post.
What is the importance of post and core procedure??
Post and core is extremely important because u can save so many natural broken down teeth and if you don’t have the knowledge of this procedure you would end up extracting a perfectly healthy tooth... which otherwise could be saved…Even a root piece can be restored with this post and core build-up.
This video also includes the difference between customized post / cast post and prefabricated posts and the advantages and disadvantages of both the techniques.
Among the post and core systems, Fibre posts are the most commonly used because of
their numerous advantages..
1) Similar elastic-modulus as dentin protecting the root from fracture
2) Bonding is used instead of cementing in the newer post systems for increased retention.
3) Safer
4) More easily removed
5) Aesthetic
6) Provides improved fracture resistance compared to metal posts
7) Corrosion resistant
In this video all steps are included, right from creation of the post space to the cementation of the post system.
Steps that are explained in this video
1) Different techniques of creating the post space -
- Using drills like Peeso reamers and gates glidden
- Using a heated endodontic plugger
2) In depth explanation of How to create the post space?
3) Important criteria for ferrule and ferrule effect
4) Direct method for customized / cast post and core procedure
5) Indirect method for customized / cast post and core technique
6) Different Prefabricated fiber post systems and how to use them -
- 3m Relyx Fibre Post System and
- Angelus Reforpost System
7) Cementation / Bonding of Fiber Posts
Watch the Part 1 of this topic to know the factors influencing the success of post and core

    Mam I have one case he had rootcanal 10 years ago and had metal post crown on it, he came to me for replacement of cap as he had protrusion on anterior teeth so crown was little bit unasthetic so on taking iopa he had periapical radilicnecy in 21 so I decide to do re rct ,now I want to know that it's important to give him fiberpost or metal post again or I can do only porcelain fused metal capping. Is it important to do fiberpost or metal post again

    Depends on your canal diameter...the peeso with which all the GP is cleared should be your last...post will be corresponding to the peeso

    I’m confused how we go from impression of the post and core to the crown?

  • @Yasi_nzi

    @Yasi_nzi

    Жыл бұрын

    The post and core should be cemented first, then we take the final impression for the crown.

    How can we place a post in type 2 canal

  • @Dentrickstry

    @Dentrickstry

    3 жыл бұрын

    In my opinion, in any abnormal canal configuration, I would 1st take a CBCT and evaluate that if I create the post space, there should be at least 1.5 mm of dentin thickness surrounding the canal circumferentially throughout the post length ...only then proceed with the post and core technique. In such cases, you could create a post space equal to the height of the crown (minimal length)....no need to create post space all the way leaving only 4-5mm of GP. If a post and core procedure is not possible, then you can do only a core build-up. Here, you have to remove the GP only from the coronal portion and restore that space with materials like para core / luxacore.
